Lowry makes that team WAY better Jonas will make that team WAY better Last year the Raps suffered through injuries, and shut down all their players.. and tanked Dwayne Casey> Kevin McFail
So a top 3 protected pick means it'll be guaranteed in the top 3, on that particular year? Like it won't be the 4th pick onwards?
You sure are annoying, aren't you? And about those guys making Raptors "WAY" better. This has happened every year with the Raptors every year they draft some international player who they think will become the next Dirk. Not impressed.
Hahah you are forgetting that they play in the LAME Eastern Confernce( they will make the playoffs, even if they have a sub .500 record). Lowry led our Rockets to better records than some of the playoff teams last year and the year before, and our teams of the past 2 years are nowhere near as talented as this current Raptors Team. Look at the score of that game where K-Mart had the infamous smile( in the blowout). The Raptors always seem to give us a run for our money, now they have improved their PG position drastically. Along with their 1st rounder Terrence Ross Orlando will suck, the Hawks will comeback to earth, and as bad as the Nets were the past 2 years, im gonna need to see these guys actually play together before i pencil them in as a playoff team Dwayne Casey had Andrea playing like an All-Star before his injury in UTAH(trust me i have the league pass) Lowry is a PG that Dwayne Casey likes, hard-nosed, and a bull on D.
First of all, the offseason isn't over yet. You ignore that other teams have also gotten better in the east. Kyle Lowry isn't exactly injury-free either (not hoping he gets injured of course). I don't watch the raptors but exactly how bad was Calderon? How much of an improvement will they see with Lowry? I don't think pg is their worst position You think Jonas, a 20 year old international center, is going to make a huge impact in his first year?? How many centers made their team "WAY better" in their first year?
I am not sure if you're serious. You're willing to pencil in the Raptors as a playoff team but not the nets? You're talking about one of the best pg's in the game teamed up with another all-star.
Forbes makes $1.5 million and Lowry's salary is $5.75 million so this trade opens up $4,250,000 in cap space. Very nice.
The bottom line is, that pick is most likely going to suck. Lowry is a baller, miles better than Calderon, and you better believe he'll be playing with a giant chip on his shoulder after all this. That pick is probably going to be late lottery, giving us just another solid role player. Now, I'm ok with selling Kyle for 50 cents on the dollar if we're actually looking to tank, and tank the right way. But if that isn't what's happening and this was actually primarily driven by the McHale situation, then that is incredibly disappointing to me.
Obamafan is right. Folks can try and delude themselves all they want, Toronto will be fighting for that 8th seed in the east or better. Worst case for them is they finish slightly better than last year, which means worst case is late lotto. We traded Lowry for a late lotto pick in next year's draft. It's not a coincidence that all the analysts in the country think we got bent over on this trade. We did. I fear Morey made this deal in desperate haste to chase drama Dwight. Opening up cap space seemed to be just as important as the pick to Morey. That's very sad considering that Lowry is a top 10 pg with two more years just over $5 mil. We should have done better. Objectively there's really no other way to look at it. It's not the end of the world. It just sucks cause he really was our best trade asset.
Damn, Kyle Lowry was compared to Rajon Rondo and Russell Westbrook on this website and now he's being shipped to Toronto for Gary Forbes, what's most likely going to be a late lottery pick, and some cap space. #Smh #WizardNoMaximizeAssetKlow7
Mostly unbiased fans: http://forums.realgm.com/boards/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=1192974 I happen to agree :-/
So you need to see the Nets, but are immediately sold on the Raptors? They were only one game different last year.
What are you people debating? Let's put your money where your mouth is. If the pick is 10 -14, will someone put $50 in the tip jar? Likewise I will do the same if it's 9 or lower. Who wants that action? Sorry it can't be more; I work for a nonprofit
Ha. Love it. Lowry himself is the poison pill sent to disrupt the Raps by sewing the seed of disgruntlement, thereby causing them to implode. An evil plan by an evil genius.
Too risky. 9/10 is about the right spot. With potential to be as low as 6 (injuries), but as high as 15 (and thus no pick this year).
