You sure it wasn't turbo -- I always heard that he didn't have a lot to say. (I'm going to go ahead and apologize to the deaf community now -- sorry deaf community).
This. Either OP is lying (likely) or Morey is wasting his time with fans instead of getting on the fricken horn and harassing some GMs
Yeah, turbo was deaf. And I saw him on American Gladiators back in the mid 90's when I was a kid. He didn't do well, but they kept talking about how deaf he was all the time.
Good point but the problem is, Bynum is also bound to be a free agent and the Magic would rather get future picks and prospects. I don't think they would take that gamble on Bynum and be in the same situation they're in with Dwight right now.
So the deal breaker for Gori is a player's option. C'mon, is it really that big a deal? He's very valuable to the success of this team....i don't see how you can run the team without a good PG.
The Lakers did have interest in TJones. But they can't have Parsons, and they can't have Rolls Royce.
This post proves fans calling in and being passionate and not settling for scraps works! If we all say we are not going to take crap like these moves and all of the excuses, Genius will have no choice than to move his ass and put down the laptop. Great job on the call and the passion.
I believe you and your experience reflects well on Morey and the organization. I am Rockets lifer and I respect what they are trying to do.
Dreammvp, I believe you too, but let me explain to you what happened. The thinking behind directly calling a longtime season ticket holder who had justifiably expressed his displeasure and frustration with the organization was that if Morey spent 20 mins talking to you, the odds of you being assuaged and ameliorated increase exponentially while keeping the likelihood of you continuing to be a season ticket holder high, both for a variety of reasons (e.g. wizard gm takes time out of his schedule to talk to lowly fan, wizard gm puts you on a pedestal by telling you he only has a job because of fans like you, wizard seemingly convinces you that he has been working so hard to execute a master plan, etc...) In the end, as your original post indicated, you have new found appreciation for the gm and have relayed his message (propaganda?) to the masses here at clutchfans...and all it took was 20 mins of his time. This was vintage Morey. It was a low risk, high reward move. In the end, he views you and the rest of us as nothing more than expendable assets whom he's trying to leverage (manipulate?) for the highest yield. Thanks for sharing your conversation with us. It was very insightful.
The "expendable" part of his post didn't make much sense to me either but the rest of it was spot on. While it is nice to have a GM that would take a few minutes out of the day to talk to a grumpy season ticket holder, this is all just a PR stunt so fans like the OP won't give up their season tickets. In the end all we care about is having a high quality product on the floor, and so far this off season Morey has failed. It is what it is.......no need to try to embellish it.
Clearly, Morey has a deal lined up to receive two 2015-6 season ticket holders from San Antonio by selling the trust and goodwill of dreammvp today. Only Kwame can see through it all, maaaaaan.
While I appreciate your opinion, I don't think that was Daryls motive or intention.....I like to believe that he did it as a good gesture....he sounded sincere to me and even before this conversation he has always seemed pretty open and approachable which is not the norm for a man with his position...
