Have you noticed? The Rockets are 14-7 for games with less than 2 days rest 3-6 for games with more rest. (I did not count the first game of the regular season.) Go figure.
If thats the case, then we are screwed for tomorrows game.. GS was Sat Next game is Tues. Thats a 3 day rest...ugh come on guys, show some heart..
Always rusty...they seem better playing back-to-back games. They do well on second games of backtobacks. That's weird...hopefully they will be able to win against Minnesota at Compaq and beat Orlando and Tracy McGrady. HOPEFULLY we can beat the Denver Nuggets and Atlanta Hawks. The Boston Celtics...they are a maybe. We can beat them.
I noticed they play poorly after a long break... you'd think the opportunity to work more on plays, especially as they integrate newer players (Yao, players returning from injury, Posey) would be a major benefit. One possible explanation... the team "thinks" too much when they get extended time off (for practices) as opposed to simply play and react. If this is true, it may still benefit the team in the long run since they may internalize a lot of hat they seem to struggle with in these games and it may show up in their games when they again play with limited rest and practice and need to play more from "instincts". But enough "dime store psychiatry"... they just need to go out there, move and move the ball more, and play smarter!
From what i saw in the last game, moving the ball is'nt a problem...putting it in the hole is the problem!... Geez, the way they look these days, I could hit better than they do...where's my 5 mil a year?
I wonder what Rudy's excuse will be this time....he has had PLENTY of practice time. Usually that is his number 1 excuse. DD
My theory is: the Rockets are a young team. Young legs don't get tired, hence don't need lots of rest. Young players need rhythm and consistency, which come from playing, not from resting. The way they shoot poorly may be an indication of losing rhythm. I also agree with NewRoxFan that too much preparation may result in "thinking" too much: also a problem with a young team. Young players (especially young TALENTED players) typically play by instinct rather than by the head. Thinking too much on the court might screw their rhythm in the short run.
