this. yes, we've experienced a rough offseason. but morey is getting WAY overcriticized. we brought in three young, pretty good talents. lets see what happens before we start ripping morey. we were a playoff seed last year, then lowry/dragic couldnt find chemistry. were still a good team. championship? no. only one, two teams really can go into a season saying that. maybe lakers after nash trade. i love dragic as much as the next guy. really did. wish we would h ave resigned him. but were still fine without him. thats what doesnt get brought up. theres still talent on this team. lowry was an really coming into his own last year, and then non-basketball injuries derailed that. give this team a chance. just let them play it out on the court. so what we lost dragic. time for lowry to step up. k-mart is healthy. j lamb really excites me too, hes got like a 7 foot wingspan and showed a knack for scoring in college. he shouldnt have dropped to 12 but we got him. parsons over an offseason could show vast improvements. and im really excited to see donatus as well. he avged like 14 rpg is europe, and thats why we sent him over there--to work on rebounding. houston fans can be the most dramatic fans sometimes. just let the damn team play before we really judge. heck let the offseason finish.
Oh come on now. We all know he has no prime players. It was probably just a figure of speech for this teams talent.
we didnt lose Dalembert for nothing... We got 3 players from the bucks and Jeremy Lamb! Stop with the hating people!
The good news is, we don't have to spend a whole season pretending to be a playoff team and finding out we aren't. Instead we can focus on developing our young talent. Having little to no expectations can be a good thing. Leaves room for surprises.
Two of them were free agents. Lee is not yet gone, and Dragic priced himself out of our range. We moved up for Lamb with Dalembert, remember? We also got a good asset in Leuer from the trade.
I still believe in Morey as well. I'm sure he has a plan, but it takes other people to agree with him in terms of trades and free agent signings. Granted, I'm upset at the loss of Dragic because I think he's got a bright future. Worst that could happen is staying a mediocre 14th pick in the Draft team. After this offseason, I think the Rockets will either get better or worse, not stay put. Direction is a good thing. Losing gets us higher draft picks, winning gets us in the Playoffs. I'm optimistic.
Like Fox news, you're only reporting half the story. You're not reporting which rookies Morey passed on. You're not reporting Morey's failure to move up in the draft. You also fail to acknowledge that by the end of the season, Dragic was most certainly not a "backup" and had established himself as player on the rise. You also fail to point out how close the Houston offer and Phoenix offer are, and that it's on Morey for being unable to get it done.
I have faith in Morey and believe he'll get us another good player before the season begins. One who will tip the odds just enough, to get us back to a 14th pick yet again. I'm afraid our youngsters won't get much playing time as we tirelessly push for that elusive 8th spot.
Emphasis on "one point", which was when the rockets first acquired him. Then he became inconsistent once Camby showed up. Camby > dalembert anyways and getting Leuer AND moving up to get lamb was worth way more than dally.
I'm sure Alexander wants Lin (marketability over winning) and Morey wants Dragic (winning over marketability). I believe Les gave Morey notes that if Lin and Dragic ask for the same amount of money, go for Lin. Can we restart 2012 offseason again?
the good news.. is that we've started the rebuild, which was always going to be painful.. and we are going to lose a lot for a season or 2.. but this really resets the team into the future.. look for a few more asset trades BTW
The disparity between those offers is troubling .... Morey should have closed the deal rather than moving on to Lin who is a clearly inferior player for "near" the same money. He's really got to become more flexible rather than sticking to his statistical anal-ysis. Ive been a defender of Morey's .... but I fear he is alienating himself with his hardball , asset approach with anything other than superstar players. Im begining to believe that Morey would be a better "behind the scene's guy" than the guy making the final decisions ... what I mean by that is he'd be a great asset as an advisor to a GM .... but his hardline stances just dont seem to mesh well with these NBA players who expect to be coddled and get their way. I also get the idea the franchise is getting desperate - Hence the max offer to a guy who can stay on the court and an offer to Lin that is near what Dragic got. After this disaster of a begining to the offseason , I cant say I blame them ... but we really only have one guy to blame and thats Les Alexander for his failure to recognize that the NBA unlike most other business rewards failure. Ive also stated Im ethically against tanking , but that I recognize the simple facts.
