Now they have a team that would be awesome in D'Antoni system... but wait they fired him.. Smh the Knicks are a joke
I just feel Morey and the team are just desperate to sign someone, after striking out multiple times of huge free agents/potential trades. But it's safe to say this offseason isn't making our team better next year, or the foreseeable future.
OMG you're right. Here I was thinking it would be suns 2.0 with Mike D'Antoni helming the team. LOL why is the one of the best and most rabid hoops fanbase saddled with the worst ownership and FO in the league?
sucks how the good teams seem to aquire upgrades so easily and yet rockets cant even get a above average player
Wonder if Morey will help facilitate this in exchange for an under the table agreement not to match Lin.
because they can.. simply put no matter what ppl still go to there games they still get coverage win or loose.. Knicks/ Yankees/ Jets all three of them teams if they are a loosing team its a story and it gets play on ESPN. $$$$ is what makes the world go round and the NBA is a business so as long as ole uncle Dolan making money he dont care.
and contender status (franchise). I've notice alot of aging stars in most sports tend to want to play for a contender, if they aren't having money troubles.
Morey doesn't seem like the type to make a move just to make a move. One thing about big contracts to young players is that potential is factored in, add in the restricted free agency and you have reasons for overpaying. Both Asik and Lin are both young and have plenty of room to improve, both posses traits that you can't teach i.e. work ethic and BBIQ. Both signings entail a lot risk, but I don't see what other options Morey has, Les won't let him tank and waiting for a superstar to become available via trade hasn't panned out.
Look, there is a lot of "screwing themselves" going on in this process. Morey is about to (re)sign a guy who he cut in December when he was making 800k to a offer sheet of nearly 40 million! If Morey hadn't cut him in December he could have had him today on the roster for about a million per. All for naught because the Knicks will resign Lin, even if its just to hold onto him as an asset for a future trade. NY may not have a savy front office but one thing their FO does have is unrivaled revenue streams. They already make money hand over fist and on that basis alone they'd resign Lin. But then when you add in the additional property rights fees that get added to MSG's coffers from Lin's games from China, the decision to resign Lin, even if you have to pay a tax, a financial no brainer.
Does Lin actually generate the same financial interest in Mainland China as Yao does? Or is it not as crazy since he's born from Taiwan immigrants and etc.
