Lowry is our best option right now. I don't mind Lin, but he's worth a Lowryesq contract, nothing more. The figures being reported sound much too rich. I would have we bit the bullet on dragic (who is a better player) and locked him up for $8.5, but it sounds like we lowballed him (meaning offered fair value). I worry we will not get fair value for Lowry in a trade, so our best course of action is (in order of preference): 1. Make up with Lowry, or 2. Sign Dragic at 8.5 and trade Lowry, or 3. Sign Lin at 6 or 7 and trade Lowry Whatever we do, we should not overpay for Lin and then not get a fair return on Lowry through trade. That would be the worst of all scenarios.
in order to get Terrence Ross, the Rockets can throw in Terrence Jones. or if they would take Marcus Morris instead or additionally. Ross has the size to play SF, so he would be the backup to Parsons.
Here is something I fooled around with on the trade checker. Rockets trade to Orlando: Kevin Martin Patrick Patterson Marcus Morris Terrance Jones Rockets Receive from Orlando: Dwight Howard Jason Richardson Rockets Trade to Toronto: Kyle Lowry Toronto trades to Orlando: Linas Kleiza Orlando Trades to Toronto: Hedo Turkoglu So it would look like: Houston: Dwight Howard, Jason Richardson Orlando: Kevin Martin, Patrick Patterson, Marcus Morris, Terrance Jones, Linas Kleiza Toronto: Kyle Lowry, Hedo Turkoglu eh?
Yeah... why does Orlando do that? I'd rather -- Rockets get -- Pau/Bargnani/Derozan Raptors get -- Lowry/Scola/Morris/Dallas pick Lakers get -- Calderon/Martin/Patterson/Jones But I know that's just me.
The Raptors have nothing to offer us. They are a playoff team with Lowry so even their draft picks aren't valuable. Derozen can only play the 3 and Parsons is entrenched there. They are not trading us Bargnani or their prized center. Ed Davis is average at best. Ross is the only player I'd have interest in since he can play the 2 and the 3. I guess if there were no other options I settle for Ross, picks, and expiring contract for Scola and Lowry, but it feels like it should be more.
You know what could have prevented all this? IF TORONTO HAD MANNED UP AND GIVEN US 8. ANDRE DRUMMOND FOR LOWRY. Toronto can stick it for all I'm concerned. They're incompetent and we don't need to do business with such losers unless they really wanna give concessions to us. Chumps.
Very interesting start. You'll have to throw in a couple more of our youngsters and a pick or two to Orlando.
Scumbag Raptors want Lowry AFTER the fact that they passed on a guy the Rockets wanted the most in the draft and drafted somebody else.
Besides the Raptors I'm wondering who else would be a natural trade partner for Lowry. Seems to me that Philly could work. turner for Lowry?
Perhaps, and maybe this scenario is just too logical and not complicated enough for Morey, but shouldnt the Houston Rockets just forget about Dragic and Lin and just make peace with the little hotrod point guard they already have signed for less money? He's cheaper and at the end of the day he's probably the best option for this team. After looking at all of this in hindsight I would have done the Drummond for Lowry deal and signed Dragic, but that high risk ship has sailed. I think we're better than good at point guard as is. No trade, no PG FA signing, no drama, all is okay at point guard.
