And that is to admit that I was wrong and swallow my pride and make some apologies.

You see there are some fundamental things about me that I think some people have figured out:

    1) I am an intensely competitive person whether it is doing school stuff, my job, playing sports, and of course rooting for my teams. I am also very protective of myself on this board. I try not to let anyone push me around.

    2) I have a lot of passion for my teams like the Rockets, Broncos, Red Sox, and of course the University of Miami football team.

    3) I am a little high-strung at times and I tend to wear my emotions on my sleeves.

    4) I have always tried to do what I thought or felt was the right thing and that is why I am doing this post now - my actions from last night up to now have not been the right thing.

I sit there and wonder as I type this if I would have said the things that I said if I was talking to the people on this board face to face. I highly doubt it. If I did, I probably would have gotten my butt whupped. That is part of the problem of talking to others on-line whether through chat rooms or on bulletin boards. You can hide behind the monitor. After all, with the exception of Jeff and ROXRAN, I haven't talked to anyone else off this board in person. I have not met anyone on this board in person. That makes it easy to say things that are hurtful and disrespectful.

I think how Larry Coker and Ken Dorsey handled this painful loss. They handled it with class. Obviously, I did not do the same. As a fan of Coach Coker, Dorsey, and the rest of the Miami football team, I have let them down with my actions here and for that I am truly sorry. I also damaged my testimony as a Christian by my actions. I let down the Lord big time with this. And this is something I pray about every night....to not get upset over things that I have no control over. But I failed in this aspect and I feel really BAD about letting Him down. All I can do is ask for his forgiveness and for him to continue to guide me to a better way of behaving and living my life.

Most of all, I need to apologize to some individuals:

    1) Raven - You were one of the first to point out that my behavior was shameful. Instead of admitting that you were right at the time, I turned in another classless post directed at you. I am sorry and hope that you forgive me because I enjoy reading your posts and consider you a friend here.

    2) Rocketman95 - I don't think we really got into it, but if I offended you in any way, I am sorry. You know I think a lot of you and I hope that I will get to meet you if you decide to come to the Bonnaroo this coming summer.

    3) NYKRule - We have had our run-ins but for a Knicks fan, you are okay.:p I still think that you are one of the best people I have ever met when it comes to doing fantasy sports whether with Yahoo, OOTP, etc. I also know that you have a side to you that most people don't know about and that makes me respect you even more. I was WAY OUT OF LINE for calling you the things that I did, and I should have just either ignored your post or responded with more class than I did. I hope you forgive me and accept my apology.

    4) The Cat - We haven't been getting along in the last month or so, but I also have seen another side that makes me respect you too (I know you may not believe me). I have let myself get wrapped up in little things with you when I should have just let it go. Now don't get me wrong - if I see you saying something that I don't agree with, I am not going to sit there and say nothing. However, I have argued with you before in the past in a classier way and that is what I should have done and will do in the future. I was also WAY OUT OF LINE for saying the things I said to you and like Rule, I should have ignored you or done a better job in responding with class. I am sorry.

    5) Clutch and Jeff - I have embarrassed not only myself but your great site as well. I said some things that would have caused others to be banned in a heartbeat. I am SO LUCKY and FORTUNATE to have a good relationship with the two of you (although I can't help but feel that Clutch rolls his eyes and says to himself, "What type of stuff did Manny stir up this time?";) ). Not only did I not get banned, but I didn't even get a warning (that was bad - a triple negative in one sentence!)! Clearly, I did not deserve that because I was wrong and my actions hurt people that I consider friends. Please forgive me and accept my apology. I will try really hard to think about what I post and better yet, try not to post when I get emotional like I was last night.

To anyone else that I have offended, charge it to my head and not to my heart.

And even though I still feel that in my heart Miami is the better team, Ohio State did win fair and square last night. They did everything they were supposed to do and they deserve to be the National Champions.

I appreciate the apology, Manny. I apologize for any digs I might have taken on you as well. Although I have to admit, that was one of the more entertaining threads I have read in a while.

Nice. Hope you can actually take to heart some of what you say in this post. You still get bent out of shape way too easily after all this time.

Just chill, give your opinions, and don't go psycho dood.

oh, and nothing wrong with thinking Miami was the better team. They most likely were, but the best team doesn't always win.

His team lost a heartbreaker in a national championship game. Considering that, I think his response was understated. Just imagine your team going through that kind of game and the roller coaster of emotions you'd experience and being egged on by other people.

I didn't think an apology was in order. I totally understand what he went through.

No apology needed. I've told quite a few people today that I couldn't imagine UT in a national championship game after last night.

You were just pissed, rightfully so, so it's no big deal. At least they gave an effort unlike my Pack tonight.

Just want to note that if the hardest thing you have ever had to do is to apologize to some geeks on an Internet bulletin board...you can consider yourself lucky...

    You are right, Jackie.

I should have meant "the hardest thing that I have ever had to do on the BBS".

I already have taken myself out of the spelling thing; however, I see that you are still in pounce mode!:D

Yes, NYKRule is a dirty nazi and there is no reason to apologize to him.

NYK is not a nazi, some people just can't handle the fact that other than Rockets fans, some people do know things about sports.

The man goes much deeper than sports talk. So does this conflict.

You've shown a refreshing amount of class, Manny. Not surprising, coming from you, but a great example for some others I could mention, but won't.

Now, if I could ever understand your attitude towards sex... ;).

(Your not still seeing the 30-something virgin, are you?? Sorry, I'm lost in a '60's time-warp when it comes to that subject. My younger friends are amazed that the worst thing you could catch back then could be cured with a shot in the behind... not that I have any experience with that! :) And I know that's not an issue with you, in any event. Geez, I'm babbling, sorry again.)

Hey, maybe I should read the thread your apologizing for.

I do know how it can be with sports as I have had many arguments with friends over my Raiders/Rockets. After last years Raiders exit via the tuck rule (when I went completely crazy and tossed a 27 inTV out a window) I looked at things and realized that its not worth losing your cool (and a nice tv) over. I actually tried not to post about it here because I knew I was too upset.

Speaking for myself, you and I have always disagreed on NFL football and even so you have always been very cool about things. I just take it as 2 fans who really are die-hards.

I just wanted to post this to remind you that while you may have lost your cool for a minute, it happens to everyone.

Wow. I thought I was a sports nut. I don't think I did anything remotely close after the Buffalo debacle, hands down the worst sporting moment in my life and one of the top 10 worst overall.

I feel a little better about my obsession with sports. It could be a lot worse, I guess.

    Deckard,

I am no longer seeing that girl you asked about. We had gone out close to a month, and she admitted to me that she liked someone else (you may have already known that because I did mention it here).

I told her to, essentially, choose between me and this other guy and she chose him. I missed doing things with her at first, but I didn't let myself get emotionally involved with her.

Someone is out there for me; I just haven't found them yet.
