I haven't read all 30 pages, but has anyone mentioned the fact that Lin's only had 1 good and very shortened season? Why are teams willing to throw the Brink's truck at him?

I know. I said that myself in an earlier post.

If Lin's on the team, neither Dragic or Lowry will wanna be here, since there can be only 1 starter and each guy wants that and won't settle for the backup role.

Besides, Lin's contract may be too high a price to pay a backup, even if he were agree to be one. Also, if Lin were not to be the starter, his fans would be screaming bloody murder all the time about it.

Since one of the biggest reasons for signing him is to get all his own personal fans for the team, they are pretty much forced to start him whether or not they think it's better off for the team for him to be the backup instead of the starter...

It would be around 50-60 mil in repeat offender lux taxes making the total over 120mil. That's why I've been saying the Knicks may not match a backloaded contract to the tune of say 3yr/24 mil. Way too much money to only 4 guys.

I really don't understand taking all this unnecessary risk. I like Lin, but I don't think he's as good as Dragic and there's a good chance that New York will match. I can live with losing Lee for nothing (although that is painful) since we need to develop Lamb but losing both Lee and Dragic for nothing makes no sense. What if we end up with no Dragic, no Lee, no Lin, and no Asik? Why not just pay Dragic the extra 2 million dollars? Given the risk, wouldn't that be the smarter play? Is there something that prevents us from doing that?

    Rank the potential Point Guards
    1. Lowry - larger more consistant body of work - cheap good contract
    2. Dragic - saw more of him - I don't think he is a fluke - but wants 8+Million
    3. Lin - nice 3 weeks ~6 weeks

Do you give Lin . . Lowry type money?
I am just not sold on Lin

Sources stated that the contract would be 4 yrs / 30 million

    1st year: 5 million
    2nd year: 5.2 million
    3rd year: 10 million
    4th year: 10 million

I'm guessing Les may have been pretty upset when Lin blew up in NY....kind of like a guy that learned he threw a winning lottery ticket out with the trash..maybe Lin was always at the top of their list

Now you know damn well that if old fan fave Lin isn't starting his fans will be raising Cain over it.

I assume you are joking around but seriously, they do have to start him. Why? Because a team doesn't sign a guy like Lin and have him ride the pine. The biggest reason to have him on the team is to draw fans to the team. And the fans he draws will wanna see him play, not sit. They risk ticking off those people by not playing him starters minutes. If they were not planning on playing him a lot then why would they bother signing him?

    Lowry has two years left

This year at 5.75 Million and next at 6.21 million

So its a toss up but the reason they are doing it is to not let NY match

The reason is because he is a popular player and he draws lots of fans.

The Asian community (for one) is nuts for this guy, just like they were for Yao.

Having him on the team generates a lot of extra money for the team.

If Houston signs him, just watch how many more national TV games the Rockets get this upcoming season. It'll be lots...

If Lin signs, no matter what happens to him or his game, Les will not allow Morey to trade him or release him. The dude could have both his legs chewed off in a rabid bear attack, and Morey would still order McHale to give him 24 minutes a game.

Problem is Lowry wants to be traded...
    Dragic wants 10 million overs

So we offer Lin same amount dragic declined...

    We will be trading Lory

What would Lin bring off the court to the Rockets marketing department? If he is a step back for Goran on the court does he make up off the court?

You severely underestimate the Asian community. There were rabid fans following him when he played like a minute a game in GS.

Lets all realize something lin is like dragic they both played in a few games so they both don't have a large body of work when they did play they were both playing at a high level but Lin got all the news and highlights he got all the praise and dragic well we here on clutchfans knew what he was doing but I don't think nobody in the NBA world did so IF we do sign Lin he would bring something that goran can't excitement hype media attention recognition and most of all $$$$$$.......but for us as fans he could be our first all star since Yao which is huge for us because nobody on our roster is a all star no not even Lowry sorry so if morey pulls this off this would be a great move for the rockets and it would be because of morey in morey we trust
