It's not just one loss in a row it's that we have lost 4 out of the last 6 games and 3 out of the last 5 home games. And it's not just the fact that we lost but it is also the manor in which we lost those games and the teams we lost to. 4 of our last 5 losses have come at home and we have lost to the likes of the Clippers, Knicks, Grizzlies and Warriors during during the last 5 losses. Let me make sure that everyone understands that I did not make a typo. The Clippers, Knicks, Grizzlies and Warriors make 4 of our last 5 losses. OUCH!
Ok, explain this: why would we want to pick up the key components of a team that is much, much worse than the one we have now? The Rockets backcourt isn't why we've lost these games, remember. I know this wasn't the idea of original poster in the thread, but the idea that Andre Miller is worth *both* Eddie Griffin and Cuttino Mobley is simply laughable. Andre Miller hasn't won jack in the NBA and his upside is what you see right now. He's a solid player, but Cuttino is as good a 2 guard as Miller is a point guard. Steve Francis is one of the top 3 point guards in the game- why mess with that at all? I would package Griffin and Mobley for somebody like Brand, but that's about as much Clipper as I can handle on one team. Mo Taylor's enough.
Does anyone believe that as long as Sterling owns the Clippers that any player they have will not be available when their contracts expire? As long as he can extend them and keep them under the rookie contract they will stay, but when he has to really pay them see how many are there.
NO WAY, that would in essence turn us into the Houston Clippers. There is no way Francis gets traded and Miller is overrated in my opinion, he has more options (talent) in LA than he did in Cleveland, and the Clips still sucks, maybe the GM of the Cavs were right not to extend his contract. He haven't led his team to victories, and before we know it the Clips would have a new starting five because basically the whole team is consisted of either restricted or nonrestricted free agents.
Why don't we just swap our starting lineup with the Clippers' so that we can win as many games as them eh?
Now this trade is outrageous. The reason the Clippers brought in Miller was to fill in the glaring hole at 1. For all the hype on Jaric, he hasn't panned out yet and his D might be questionable, plus he has the size of a forward. There would be a logjam in the 2s for the clips. I think the Rockets would miss the potential of Griffin since Maggette is a streaky shooter who will probably demand 6+ million or else, and Miller would demand 9+. Wilcox might pan out to be a great forward, but Eddie Griffin is little younger, heavier, and already has a year in the league! This trade would bust the Rockets cap sooner or later, and ruin all the momentum the Rockets generated these past seasons. If it aint broke, don't fix it.
I do think that if the Fakers mess up and miss the postseason, Andre Miller would be a near lock to switch LA uniforms given that there are no really attractive teams looking for a PG out there.
No way... if anything, Miller would use the Lakers as a negotiation ploy to get some sucker team to up their ante during contract talks. Andre is a legitimate player, and he isn't going to sell out his services for 1-3 million dollars he'd get from the Lakers.
Yao is going DOWN. Sure, he had a few good games. But watch when an angry Shaq eats him up later this month. His confidence will be busted. He will start to slide. He won't be a lousy player, but he won't be a Great. Sell him now.
Very funny Mr. 2 posts. Should we expect some more laughter in posts to come? You make it sound like Shaq is some sucky ass player who has not humiliated anyone before. If the games have shown anything, Shaq has nowhere to go but DOWN and Yao has nowhere to go but UP.
I really can't see this trade happening, but I will say this, if we don't start playing better TEAM basketball then I feel some move has to be made in the off season. This is just my opinion, but it seems to me that we have to many guys that feel like they have to score to be effective. When I had my old username(Eddie!Eddie!) me and the Cat got into it over his boy Mobley and I asked him if he thought Mobes would be more of a team player once Ming arrived, and he said yes. Well today I think I can say I was right! In fairness to Cat though my boy EG is a blackhole of his own so far this year. I just don't see how we can keep 4 guys who think they have to be the number 1 option. However, these opinions are not neccessarily the opinions of the Rockets organization or any of its affiliates.
hottoddie-I'd pass on the one where we include Griffin and get Wilcox too because Wilcox has an extra year on his rookie contract (which is more valuable to Sterling), and the PF combo of Mo (still regaining his game) and Wilcox (much rawer than even EG at this point would be too weak). I also don't think the Clips throw in Maggette in such a deal. For giggles, here's my idea- Cuttino Mobley, Boki Nachbar, Chicago obligation for Andre Miller, Eric Piatkowski We trade for 2 free agents in this, one of which is a lights out shooter. With Miller and Francis playing most of the backcourt minutes, Piatkowski could handle the rest (Francis plays PG when Miller sits) and be our designated shooter (sorry Glen) and virtually eliminate Norris from playing anything but garbage time. Talk about 2 birds with one stone! I hate to move Boki because I think he'll be a very good player in this league, but I think with Posey in the fold, he'll have a tough time ever becoming a starter on this team. You still need a swingman shooter long term, but bench SG/SF shooter types are readily available in free agency and the late first round of the draft. Piatkowski and if he ever finds a shot, Rice could definitely fill such a role for a couple of years, and look at where a guy like Jacobsen or Rush was drafted. For the Clippers, this is all about the future (isn't it always for them?). They trade 2 free agents to be for a high scoring SG on one of the best value contracts in the league, and a freshly drafted rookie with plenty of years left on his deal. Mobley is pals with Odom, a free agent, and iirc Boki and Jaric go ways back, plus 2 likely high 2nd rounders. This deal eliminates a possible max contract (Miller) and limits their necessary resignings to Brand and Odom, and allows them to let Maggette go, and allows them to just get a cheap backup 2/3 if Richardson wants too much. Assuming they do that- Jaric/Dooling [Odom can play some point forward] Mobley/Richardson Odom/Nachbar/Foulkes Brand/Wilcox Ely/(Wilcox)/Wang
All I am saying is that Yao is somewhat overrated. He's got the skills but not the sheer presence of Shaq. Shaq is a powerhouse. Shaq is pissed at Yao and is aiming to kick butt. Yao has issues with self confidence. Shaq eats self confidence for breakfast. Shaq is gonna meet Yao soon. You'll see. Take the testimony from Samaki Walker, who said of Yao "he's good and all...but no match for Shaq." Jan 17, Shaq is having Chinese for dinner. Bottomline: Houston would count itself extremely lucky if Lakers ever offer to trade Shaq for Yao.
Intriguing idea, NIKEstrad. Is Piatkowski's health OK? Seems like he's missed some games recently. That trade would shake this team up something fierce! Losing Nachbar would be a bummer, imo, that might come back to bite us. But geez... that would be a hell of a team. Francis would probably shoot 30 on a regular basis. Piatkowski is excellent from downtown. And Miller would go nuts getting assists.
