I have no clue what I downloaded but it is killing me! I am so pissed! What do ya'll use and I need it NOW!!!!! Thanks! Chance
<a href="http://www.mozilla.org">Use Mozilla</a>. Turn on the pop-up blocker by going to Preferences -> Advanced -> Scripts & Plug-ins -> un-check the "Allow Scripts to open unrequested windows" line and you'll never have pop-ups on the net again.
Netscape 7 also has a popup blocking feature - pretty sweet. I had to switch to Netscape because my fugging IE wouldn't open ESPN.com. Don't ask me why...?
What kind of pop ups are you getting? do you get them when you arent even trying to load up websites? I've "downloaded' garbage that installs some sort of program that gives you popups all the time. Turns out some banner advertiser on a website I frequent snuck some sort of code into the banner and when I simply moved my pointer over the banner it downloaded and installed the program onto my computer.
Netscape 7 is basically a Netscape-branded version of Mozilla. If you're not too well-versed in computers, I'd suggest downloading that instead of Mozilla. It takes care of all the little extras that you may need, like Java and Flash. Longhorn Fan -- It allows attachments in emails of course, but it doesn't have the problems that exist with Outlook Express and viruses. Most of those problems are with Internet Explorer handling various html, javascript and active x components and auto-executing things it shouldn't. Netscape/Mozilla doesn't really have that problem. Not to say it's immune to viruses, but some of the biggest problems with email viruses are avoided.
I took the first advice given and it works spectacularly. Man I would not even have a browser open, I'd be fusging around with word or cool edit and about a bazillion popups would attack. Thanks Guys!
Popup stopper kills my Windows Explorer windows for some reason... If you're deluged by popups, holding the escape button will block the scripts that make the pop up windows. You could then use Alt+F4 or right click then close for a temporary fix.
Oh... you also need Ad-Aware to remove the spyware that the bestiality sites put on your PC!! Do any of you edit your host file for ad blocking? I do and I rarely get ads on most websites. other host file links: Google search for host file + ad blocking!
