It is now time for Morey to secure an agreement with Dragic, $58 million over 5 years, and be done with it. If we lose Dragic, we are essentially treading water again and we really need to either get a whole lot better or go to the lottery. If Morey doesn't get an agreement with Dragic then he is throwing us into a full rebuild.

    Edit: Sam Amick ‏@sam_amick
Source with knowledge of the Goran Dragic-Houston talks disputes the five-year, $40 million offer. Ah, the real-time information age.

    Sam Amick
Unrestricted free agent point guard Goran Dragic is now hoping for a nice payday from Dallas after the Mavs whiffed on Williams. Source says Dragic was given a five-year, $40 million offer from Houston but told the Rockets he wanted to continue testing the market (i.e. to get even more). Where Deron Williams went was a major factor, so they were waiting for that domino to fall. It's unclear how hard Dallas may go after Steve Nash now as well if he doesn't take Toronto's deal or New York doesn't miraculously land him, though I have a hard time seeing Mavs owner Mark Cuban eat into his cap space too much for Nash. He's been in big picture mode for a minute here, it would seem.

Suns are willing to offer $9 Mil per year. The thing is if Houston is offering $8 Mil per year with max raises for 5 years, then the total contract is a little over $46 Mil for 5 year. If the Suns offer a starting contract at $9 Mil with max raises of just 4.5% theat is a little over $38 Mil. Dragic is getting more per year but leaving $8 Mil guarenteed on the table. I almost think the dispute are the number years we are offering or the max raises. Maybe we offered $8 M for 5 years with no increases???
Aside from the Suns the other team to worry about now is Dallas since they lost out on Deron and Toronto. Whoever does not get Nash from those two is going to jump into the bidding at a high number that may get to $10 Mil.

5 years at $40 million seems extremely fair to me, if not slightly overpaying (I would have put him at 7 mil/year, but close enough). Not sure why he is so appalled by that offer.

Sounds like Dallas will try to save Cuban from the fans wrath and go after Nash. Dragic will come back to the Rockets and sign.

It is fair. But $50 million for 4 years is fair too. And so is $58 million over 5 years. Morey needs to give him a 5-year deal starting at $10 million and be done with it. Get him locked up. Get him locked into staying. So we can proceed with the rest of the offseason rebuild. Deron is gone. Dragic's value just went up.

That was a very generous offer by Morey…Dragic thinks he should be making as much as Rondo and Parker based on 26 games where we had a losing record. Good luck to ya greedy turd.

Let's face it. Morey is offering him like 6-7M. WHICH IS FAIR. Good job Morey for not caving and splurging

The article you quoted 5 years 40 million. That's 8 million a year

Can't blame a guy for trying to get as much possible .... I'm sure every one of you whining and calling him greedy would do the same. If you say you wouldn't you're lying. There is no such thing as loyalty in the NBA,not from management or players.

Regardless that offer is beyond fair. Looks like Mavs don't even want Goran that bad.

People need to stop freaking out. We made a very fair offer to Goran. Thank god for that. Goran is going to test the market, and rightfully so. There is nothing wrong with that. He was supposed to meet with Phoenix today, but we are not hearing about any grandiose offer from Phoenix now are we? There is nothing wrong with bringing in Jeremy Lin tomorrow. Has anyone ever heard of leverage? We are exploring every avenue just like Goran is. Just give it time and stop freaking out. There is a good chance Goran is a Rocket next season.

It's not about him being greedy, it's about letting the market establish things, if we do that with the players (Lowry, Landry) is OK but if the players do that for their advantage they're greedy? Let's not be hypocrites here.

Suns maxed out his value..at 9 mil...36 mil for 4 years...
Dragic should be back on a plane to Houton and really consider the 5 year 40 mil deal...looks to be another excellent initial offer by Morey.

Toronto can be the only team that would offer him a lil more than the Suns...
The Mavs arent gonna pay for Dragic...right now his salaries are on par with like a Rondo...

I'm not freaking out. I'm just making you aware. The price for Goran just went up. Phoenix is out there. Dallas. Deron is gone. Dragic is the hot point guard available. Yes, at this point, he's better than Nash. Somebody is going to throw $50 million at him over 4 years and if he agrees then we are treading water backwards again. If we're gonna go that way, we need to move out the vets for picks and tank.

Who is reporting the Suns are offering 9 mil /yr? They don't have faith in the PG they just drafted? That's harsh.
