Saw this on another site a few days ago. I'm sure it's old and if posted before, then please lock. That said, wth is going on in this vid? Can someone with knowledge of Arabic culture please explain this? Is this a recent development or has it always been around? <iframe width="420" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/S2ylmKrwiNw" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
You're being willfully dense: with the age and gender of the performers, positioning and the male behavior, it's exactly what it looks like. Just because cultures or religions prohibit specific actions doesn't mean they completely suppress the emotion and sentiment behind them.

Two words. Big Freedia. <iframe width="560" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/A-cT6SwFIHA" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
Is this like a recent thing? Or has there always been stuff like this in the Arab world? The presence of the kid is a little confusing, so is the fact that some of the dancers are male. I'm not even sure of the circumstances behind this.
Is the dude at 2:49 PacMan Jones??!?!!? [makin' it rain] They are there to help the adults with their iPhones.
Just because Arabs predominately practice Islam doesn't mean they can't have some fun on the side. Despite things said in the Quran, I know a lot of Arabs drink, party, smoke and go whoring on the side. In fact, prostitution is common in most Islamic societies, it's just not widely advertised. I mean, over the age of 30 should know where the neighborhood whorehouse is. Keep in mind that Arabs were a bunch of nomadic tribes who were often at war with other tribes. They were known for their ruthlessness as much as for their other feats. It wasn't until the Muslim conquests by Mohammad and his followers in the 7th century that Arabs begin to forge together under one common religion. Keep in mind, I'm generalizing here for simplicity's sake. There are major variances to different Arab ethnicities such as Shia, Sunni and Zaydi. And different country has different cultural mixes and practicies, etc etc. In the Arab population, there are also Arab Christians and Jews.
