i realize yao has taken too many outside jumpers lately... IMO... no matter how accurate yao is... he is a center and he should go inside like shaq and make some power moves... especially when you are taller than anyone on the court and has nice dribble skills... i remember when he made the shanghai shake against the pacers... he dribble the ball right to the hoop and made the reverse layup... even though he doesn/t have strong body like shaq to get deep positions currently... but his dribbling skills is what he should use right now and sometimes it disappoints me to see his low shooting %(like tonight,he was 1 for 8 at first, all were jumpers)...
Ask Rudy. What we are seeing from Yao is how Rudy wants to play him. I'm still upset with the loss tonight.
Yao is getting manhandled inside when he tries to get position. He finally woke up and got aggressive in the 4th. That's how he should be playing.
He is still adjusting to the physical aspect of the game. He will definitely build upper strength to hold his ground. When Yao try to backin on other players, they usually hold their ground. Yao will develop inside moves. Just sit back and enjoy his steady progress into this league. It's going to be the first time a china man is going to take over and dominate the NBA. Way to go ASIAN brother.
when u r that high, it's hard to keep balance and do the power moves like shaq, especially when yao only has a little upper body strength. plus, the guards now always feed him on the high post, i guess rudy do that becoz that could give yao more spaces, but with all these zone defence, it's hard for a center to just dribble inside like Hakeem did or yao did in his first few games. Yao just to have to get stronger and c if he can power his way through.
Well, Yao got 17 boards tonight and how can you say he got manhandled? He was tentative on the offensive for the first 2 quarter, and then got very aggresive in the 4th quarter which was too late. It seems that Steve's late game TO cost us the game.
we shouldn't say steve TO cost us the game it's a team game if the rockets can shoot better .... we would have won the game let's see if the rockets can regroup and play a better game
I think Yao should focus on offensive rebounds and make follow-up shots. Let others like Posey to get defensive rebounds. Yao will be exhausted running forth and back to get all the rebounds.
I agree completely. In fact, if both Yao and EG could get a little pissed off before each game, this team would improve immensely. Right now, all of our attitude comes from our two starting guards.
Stop trying to blame Steve for the loss. We lost because the TEAM shot 37% from the field and 23.5% from behind the arc. Do you understand that, 'the TEAM' that includes Yao's 4-12. The only person who shot the ball well was Mobley (11-21). Whats amazing is that it was even that close. Maybe you didn't watch the game but yes Yao was manhandled. Yao can't coast through the game and then decide to turn it on in the last few minutes. He was being pushed around, his shot was getting blocked ( he's 7-5 for crying out loud), he was getting dunked on. Basically he was playing soft.
Murphy, Calvin that is, attributed Yao's "softness" to the Chinese culture of kindness. (There are a few Taiwanese and Hong Kong residents that would disagree.) As a person, I can appreciate Yao's supposed "kind" nature. As a fan(atic), it is very frustrating to watch Yao: 1. jump to block shots, when all he has to do is extend his arm, 2. lose a rebound because he cannot hold onto the ball, 3. fading on a turnaround without first bumping the defender off, 4. missing -any- dunks Right now, I do not see much difference between Yao Ming and Shawn Bradley. Yao will add some upper body strength in the coming year. He did not need that strength in his other league. He sees now the main difference and knows he needs to add some strength.
