I've never been in favor of tanking until now. I, like just about everyone else, am pretty tired of being stuck in mediocrity. I dont disagree with Morey's approach, but it hasn't worked thus far. Per Clutch in another thread, Jabari Parker is also supposed to be a stud in 2014 along with Andrew Wiggins in 2015.

Anything short of Anthony Davis was not worth tanking for. And as the Bobcats just demonstrated, tanking is just a loser strategy more often than not.

IDK... I stated several times during the draft process that although the draft was deep, I felt this years top 5 wasn't very strong.

But had you asked me the previous two years I would have said: Derrick Favors, DeMarcus Cousins, Jonas Valanciunas and Bismack Biyombo.

2013 draft projects a very strong type 5. So stating ahead of time, I would tank in 2012-13 for Nerlens Noel, Cody Zeller, Isaiah Austin and Rudy Gobert <-- All of them are center's!!

Who traded a pick for a superstar? That's easier said than done.

Charlotte went all in on the tanking approach. Will MKG net them a superstar?

What pick after #1 could get you a superstar?

I agree with Davis, Robinson, Beal. All the rest... Not super sold.

Cody Zeller is amazing. Im at IU. Watched him every game. He's an agile, very strong 7 footer. People will think he's not as good because he's white, but he's a beast. I would take him with the #1 overall pick. He's a very bright kid with a great future.

ESPN did an article on him, and hes really into his schoolwork. Never got below a A- in high school. Hes studying at indiana University's Kelley School of Business, which is a very, very hard school. I think he stays 3 years to graduate early, but I don't know if he can turn down #1 offers. He was mocked to go #6, but i think he couldve gone earlier this year.

    Hes for real.

I would take Zeller over all of them. Noel seems very raw. Zeller dominated last year, and will dominate this year, especially with worse competition. He ran through Meyers Leonard--one of the reasons I didnt want the ROckets to take him. Made him look very soft.

theFreak- How many championships will the Rockets win in the next 10 years.

    Almu - two.

    That was in 2000.

Since then we have been in proverbial basketball hell. Two years of "what could of been or should of been" and the rest sheer hell being just bad enough to not make the playoffs and just good enough to never get good shot at a first pick.

Keep overpaying for crap talent like Asik and we can keep on keepin on with our 40-42 seasons and the genius at the helm.

How naive was I in 2k.

    Kidd-Gilchrist

    Beal

    Robinson

Those are the 3 I'd rather have than who we took.

I also would have liked to see if it was possible to flip a top 3-5 draft pick in a package for something bigger.

GS lost eleven more games than the Rockets and got Harrison Barnes.
Detroit lost nine more games than the Rockets and got Andre Drummond.
Portland lost six more games than the Rockets and got Meyers Leonard.

Both Barnes and Drummond have the chance to be special.

We were lucky the draft was deep in the 6-20 range. Most years aren't like that.

And even accounting for that, Gilchrist would still have been an all star pickup for us.

If we'da tanked, we wouldn'tve had to give up Dalembert plus a 14 and cash just to get a 12. We would have started the offseason with a position of higher strength.

It was the right season to do it.

Last year I would have tanked for anyone. I'd specifically tank this year for Nerlens Noel, who I think will be better than Anthony Davis.
