    Rockets need a pure shooter...
the ones that can simply spot up and shoot the ball consistently
like allan houston, ray allen, glen robinson

We have Mobley and Rice, Mobley is a scorer and Rice is supposed to be our pure shooter. But lately Rice couldn't hit the bball to the ground.

Seeing Nachbar would be nice for a change. Supposely this kid was supposed to be stud that should've gone higher in the draft. I wanna see what this kid actually do.

As for the team rotations, I am really starting to doubt Rudy's decisions. I don't get how Rudy decides who plays and who doesn't.

I think Yao should only do offensive rebounds, let others like Posey do defensive rebounds.

glen has already past his prime and in his twilight career.
cuttino is not a pure shooter....he's the type of guy that depends on his pentetrating skills and creates his own shot off the dribble

like Clutch said, it's good to see boki play.....there must be a reason why he isn't playing.....maybe he's not used to play at this level now....just give him time

As much as Rice is the closest thing to a pure shooter, he is inconsistent. We need a guy that can hit open jumpers and not clanks. I think our perimeter game is so inconsistent and unreliable this year. Therefore, bring on Nachbar. He may not be the answer, but at least give him a shot to make shots.

Somehow I have a feeling that Rudy keeps Boki as a secret weapon for future games if the Rockets make the playoff. Hope it will not be too late for Boki to show up.

Nachbar can hit the three sometimes but his mid range shot is better. It's going to take time for him to get going quickly but I would like him to get some minutes a game.
Dell Curry is a pure shooter that we can go after in the short run.

If we do not put Boki in the game to practice, it is going to take forever for him to catch up. It will take time forever for him to get going.

RocketsFun2003,I agree with you.He does need to be on the court to produce which could improve his confidence but I don't think he would be able to shoot lights out from the get go either and we need that right now.

Yao did not play his first a few games productively.

Boki never played more than 12 mins. Who knows he won't score 15~20 pts if he plays more than 30 mins.

    Bring on Boki.

Any inside scoops on why he is actually not getting more playing time? Rice has been clanking like crazy the last couple of games. Rudy probably does not want two rookie playing at the same time, but Boki should get a just a few more minutes. In either case Posey should be a starter over Rice. Bring Boki off the bench for a few games and see how it works out.

Matt Bullard has a bad back and if I'm not mistaken was forced to retire because of it.

    Quote from the Chronicle article:

Rudy Tomjanovich talked with Mobley in the fourth quarter about looking to pass since the defense was leaving other players open when Mobley had the ball. The only problem: No one was hitting his shots whether he was open or not.

"We missed a lot of easy shots that we normally can make at point-blank range," said Steve Francis, who was 5-of-19 from the field.

I've been saying shooting is a major problem the few times I've posted. A large part of the problem is in the above quotes. There is a disconnect in how the Rockets perceive themselves as shooters versus the reality. Saying "the shots just weren't falling" or "we missed shots we normally make" starts to appear like denial when the fans watching all season know that MISSING is the norm, not the other way around. I thought early on this season that the Rockets don't have a dead-eye spot up jump shooter that can hit a mid-range shot consistently -- from game to game; not just a game here or there. Until they acquire someone like this or until someone on the team goes past the denial stage and takes the Larry Bird approach to becoming a "good" shooter (practicing jump shots for hours on end for days and weeks and months on end) they will continue to struggle.

Also, of note is what one of the announcers (I only get NBA League Pass and it's only been the local crew about 2 times in 30 games!!!) said a game or two ago. He said, "The Rockets don't really run that many plays... and they run even less in the 4th quarter." Is it any wonder that we see the free-wheeling, dribbling to create something, kind of basketball? There aren't too many teams that can get away with a simple, sparse offensive plan. The Jazz come to mind with their pick and rolls. And maybe that's been the Rockets inspiration for keeping things simple. But like them or not the Jazz have been masters of their offensive execution. And Karl Malone has been an awfully good mid-range shooter for the most part.

When Yao was first inserted into the starting line-up I got renewed interest to try to watch all of the Rocket games. But I have to say he is still a minor component compared to Francis and Mobley... not that he couldn't be as evidenced to his efforts at in the last couple of minutes of last nights game against the Warriors. And I find myself not so interested once again because even if Yao is in the game he is still being under utilized.
