@WojYahooNBA: The Nets have reached agreement on a 4 year, $40 million contract with Gerald Wallace, league sources confirm. NY Post first reported.

This is how the Nets want to use their capspace??

You would think it has got to hurt their chances. I'm all for the Nets adding players to ridiculous contracts, ruining their chance to land Howard.

Maybe the Nets know they have nothing to offer and are just moving away from Howard.

Now all they need to do is give Lopez $10/yr and Deron $17mil/yr and they'd fill their entire cap.

Well done, NJ. Well done. Glad you have Billy King and not Daryl Morey. Because Morey in NJ would be building a contender around DWill and Howard right now.

Compounding one bad mistake (trading their lottery pick for Wallace) with another (keeping him for 10 million per year).

I think it's safe to say....Dwight is not going to Brooklyn. Like I said, there was only a tiny, tiny chance of Dwight being traded there.

Stupidest thing New Jersey has done since trading for Gerald Wallace.

Now they should trade for joe johnson, and keep wallace. Would be a decent roster, but not a contender. Just how i like it for them.

9 million in the first year? Including Deron Williams' contract it leaves around 20 million of cap space for the Nets. Then again, contracts can't be signed. Sign and trade deal can be a possibility.

Their GM is Billy King. All that you need to know.

They have less than that. Because Jordan Farmer is going to exercise his ridiculous $4.5mil PO, their rookie 2nd rounders will take up another ~2mil. And they have cap holds on missing roster players for another ~3mil. Brook Lopez has a cap hold of 7.5mil until they re-sign him, which is going to be a higher number.

So unless they get rid of Lopez, they're not going to be paying anyone else big bucks.

This is great for the Rockets. For all those b****ing about Morey, take a look at how Billy King is doing wonders for a big market team, with an owner with the deepest pockets in the league, already with an established star player in Williams.

Trading for Joe Johnson will just about fill the cap with the contracts of Williams, Johnson, and Wallace alone, and would be such a brilliant idea.

That team can make the playoffs in the East, but has no chance against one of the upper echelon teams.

Deron is gone, and I think they know it now.

Dwight better not follow him to Dallas.

Nets are the new Nicks. Offering ridiculous contracts and making terrible trades that hamper their organization for years.

$10M for Wallace in year 1 and probably even year 2 isn't terrible.

Year 3 and 4 are the killer here.

Even more importantly there wasn't a great market for Wallace out there, so essentially the Nets bid against themselves.
