Hired a coach nobody liked. Drafted their replacements. Tried to trade them. Responsible for everybody's lowball contracts.

As long as the team makes progress I doubt he cares how the players feel about him.

What is up with all the Morey hate? Keep in mind the players that have complained either lost their starting job or were riding the pine all year last year. Royce White, Chandler Parsons, Marcus Camby, and Goran Dragic all seem to love this organization. We need to get rid of the players that have a sense of entitlement anyway. You bust your ass or you get replaced. If we have players that weak minded we shouldn't want them anyway.

The job of the GM is try to do what's best for the team, not be friends with the players.

Look what happened to Otis Smith. He tried to be friends with Dwight, and Dwight couldn't have possibly cared any less. Now Otis Smith is out of a GM job, and the Magic are in superstar hell.

I dont think its Morey "hate". At some point as GM, the team becomes a reflection of you. The team hasnt had any direction since Morey took the job. We've struck out of every big move and meanwhile other teams have started rebuilding successfully. The frustrating part is when Morey does something you guys see as good he's godlike and can do no wrong. When he fails to deliver (more than often) its all of sudden "not his fault" or "out of his control". The blame somehow gets shifted to Les, Stern etc.

Getting a superstar can be a acceptable excuse for a GM. But taking in 7 PF's is plain stupid

Judging by the threads this morning, I'm gathering I didn't miss much in the free agency game beginning last night. Glad I got drunk instead.

No, he doesn't need to be 'friends' with the players, but he needs to manage them. Making them feel unwanted, unappreciated, etc, is not what managers are suppose to do.

Part of what's best for the team is keeping players happy, and it doesn't appear as though he's doing a good job at that.

One thing that you and the players need to understand. The NBA is a business.
    Get over it.

Even businessmen don't like doing business with jackasses. I'm not saying Morey is that. But we are doing business with immature divas for the most part. That's the market you're in.

I agree. That's why GMs like Pat Riley are failures. Riley got rid of 80% of his roster, made them feel unwanted, unappreciated, crap, utterly worthless except for their expiring contracts, and jettisoned them like trash.

It's nice to know a-hole GMs like Riley would never be a winner. If only Morey were a nice GM that actually made players like Beasley and J. O'Neal and Rafer feel wanted and loved. That's how you build a championship team.

So if you were looking for a job, and you had a choice between 2 companies. One of them is known for being a great place to work and the other is known for having terrible bosses, you'd be fine with either?

Not saying DM is a bad boss, but this is a business of managing people, athletes. This is not the same business as Shell, Apple, etc. and it can't be managed the same.

Which winning team is known for treating role players like kings?

Give me a break. It's not anywhere near the same and you know it. He had Wade and knew Lebron WANTED to come there. He got rid of his players in 1 swoop, not leaving them on the trade block forever.

If Howard and Williams WANTED to come to Houston, then yeah, fine, get rid of everyone and build a team. But, alas, they dont. We're dropping players in hopes to get crappy players that will be over paid and other players that don't even want to be here.

    Your argument is flawed.

According to the OP, we should not draft/get anyone at a position where we have a starter already (so, no AB, and no trade for Lowry/Dragic, no Lamb, no Parsons, no Morris, no PF other than Scola/Patterson, and just draft centers because we have no centers).

And we should give AB a contract despite Lowry outplaying him, Lowry $7-8M/yr instead of $5-6M/yr, Scola what the Nets were willing to offer him, Dalembert the first time around before he rang out of options instead of a two year offer partially guaranteed in the second year, Dragic $10M/yr 'at least', Courtney Lee $7M/yr.

So we'll forever be as good as just how our current starting 5 is, and we can't improve because the starting 5 doesn't get you in a conversation to trade for potential stars, and we'd be capped out giving players that have played well whatever their opening ask was.

GM the style of Isaiah Thomas, Joe Dumars etc?

Man, so many people act like their woman cheated on them with Daryl. Look, it's a business, a multi-million dollar business. Yes player, you are an asset. You may not like it but man up and start being a professional.

So tell me which successful GM doesn't treat his non-stars like assets.
