Dwight Howard has really made himself into a laughing stock. All he had to do was NOT take the option and he would be unrestricted. Instead, he gave complete control back to the Magic. Decisions have consequences.

The Magic's new GM will speak directly with interested teams, evaluate the offers and probably make a decision fairly soon. I bet Howard is gone within 1-2 weeks. They need to put him in the rear-view mirror and start looking forward.

Howard himself needs to start looking forward to next season not being in Brooklyn.

At this point I don't know why Dwight's agent even bother. Howard has only reiterated about a thousand times that he doesn't want to go elsewhere. And it's been shown a thousand times that other teams are willing to rent Dwight Howard with more pieces than what NJ has to offer.

So what's the point of regurgitating the same thing over and over? Every time this goes into the news, Howard's image goes down a bit. Bad move career-wise, and doesn't make him any more likely to actually go to NJ via S&T.

You know, organizational punishment of a player in his prime just to spite them would be counter productive for the franchise moving forward. It's like Dan Gilbert's rant after Lebron went to Miami. The fans around the league probably got off on it, but I imagine a lot of players and coaches were turned off. The Magic can still can get a good haul and wouldn't have the Dwight situation hanging over them for another year.

This is what Stern wants. A league where star players dictate where they go ALL THE WAY DOWN TO ONE TEAM. As long as Houston does not have a star he won't even acknowledge the problem exists.

    The NBA is broken.

Stern wants him in Brooklyn with Williams, he sure as hell doesn't want them in Houston. Imagine 3 Texas teams and 2-3 Cali teams in the WC playoffs.

Will Dwight be as hated as LeBron for this crap that he's pulling? It's much worse, much much worse than what LeBron did.

The Magic will take their time to trade him. They don't have to start paying his salary for3 months.

No, not really. It's easier for people to hate the big man on campus. Dwight Howard is known, but he is sort of nobody in comparison to LeBron outside of the basketball world.

I also think at that point, the player's association might legitimately have something that they can bring action on.

Exactly, Magic should act in their own best interest. That interest is to trade Howard to the highest bidder, whoever that may be. No need to cater to Howard, but don't hurt yourself just to spite him.

Situation btwn Dwight Howard & Magic getting ugly. Howard feels Magic made him promises they didn't keep to get him to sign opt-in. (con't)
    Chris Broussard ‏@Chris_Broussard
Sources tell @RicBucher Players Assn is considering taking legal action against the Magic on Dwight's behalf. (con't)

Goal would be to eliminate Dwight's opt-in and make him a free agent this summer.

Strange question here but has a NBA player ever pulled a no show or hold out like the NFL? Howard now is going to take legal action against the Magic. At this point I dont want Howard in Houston anymore.

Even if they made him promises he should realize this happens all the time. Unless they wrote their promises down on paper what can he do about it?

Whoever is Dwight's agent is doing a horrible job with the situ right now.

The funny thing is, even if they "promised" him certain things, they haven't done anything at all this offseason... so how exactly could they have broken those promises?

What a baby. Either way, I would still cheer for him if he comes down to Houston for the year.

Yes, Dwight got plenty of hate after his "Indecision" and the leaking of his trying to fire SVG, and no, just because Dwight is a bigger douchebag doesn't mean Lebron is not a douchebag.
