Can we get Thibadeaux (best defensive coach in basketball) and all of those other great defenders in Chicago to come with Asik?

I'm fine with the idea of going after Asik. A lot of people here on the board believe that Morey does not take enough risks to change the direction of the team; and while this potential signing may not be on the level of obtaining a superstar, it is most definitely a move that can possibly bring light at the end of the tunnel we've been traveling down.

IIRC, Morey went after Gortat in similar fashion, and what do you know? He is now averaging a double-double, although with a future HOFer at the point. I guess what I'm REALLY trying to point out is that I truly believe Morey has an eye for talent. If Asik pans out, then great. If not, I believe he will be quick to make up for his mistake (e.g. trading Ariza for Lee). Guys that have Asik's size, defense, and rebounding ability (5.3 boards in 15 mins) just don't grow on trees. In Morey, I trust.

what was gortat's numbers again when he was playing behind dwight?

    oh right.

don't be short sighted. if morey "only for the right amount" is willing to offer you 8 mil, then i am darn sure that asik's market value is around that amount.

Centers that rebound and block shots get paid period.

He has averaged 12 rebounds and 2.3 blocks per 36 mins. An by all accounts is a spectacular position defender also. If his numbers hold true over starters minutes he will be a bargain at 8 mill.

He is an offensive zero, but so are Tyson Chandler and Kendrick Perkins.

Its just part of the plan, with likely Scola, Martin and Lowry trades coming this roster is gonna look drastically different. If Camby and Asik are manning the 5 it would put us in great shape at that position.

Still lot of moves necessary, but i would love this one.

Again, we are trying to pump ourselves up about a (projecting starter stats fiasco)...none of us has any idea if becoming a starter will translate to salary success.

I want a SURE thing...we have enough unproven players to be objective about.

After all we have heard this last week you want us to tweet Asik?

    8 mil for Asik.
    Gordon wants 12-13 mil
Goran probably falls in the 7-10 mil range

    Locking yourself in there, no?

His best year in Orlando was 3.8 pts and 4.5 rebounds and less than a block averaging about 13 minutes.

Asik last year averaged 3.1 pts & 5.3 rebounds and 1 block in 14.7 minutes so whats your point?

Paying for good players is locking yourself in. Not paying for good players is sitting on your hands. What would YOU like Morey to do, since you always have so many complaints?

Daryl needs to remind Omer that Portland is where 7 footers go to die.

I don't trust Morey's ability to land a star. But I don't question his talent evaluation skills after being proven wrong about Brooks, Landry, Lowry and most of the other dudes he has brought in. And you guys make it seem like $8M a year is horrible. I suggest you look around the league to see what centers get paid. Perkins, as a comparable, makes $7M a year.
