I really DO NOT understand this love affair for Asik. He does not make us a contender...

Lowry had always been a more effective player and therefore more valuable than Aaron Brooks. Would Asik even start over Camby? (If Camby is resigned of course)

Well.. although only in limited minutes, Asik is one of the best defensive centers in the league right now.
If McHale can help him with his offensive game, it would be a big plus.

Neither does Dragic, but we all love him.

I'll take Omer at $8 million per.

Look at what Kwame or Dalembert gets paid. As long as Dwight stays in Orlando and Asik can show he's starting material he'll be another asset at the trade deadline.

    This is getting ridiculous...

So we are only supposed to sign players that instantly make us contenders? SMH

Irrelevant. The only question you should ask is if Asik is worth $8M, not who else is on the roster since the team's make up could change drastically from now to opening night. Besides, Camby can't possibly be in the team's long term plans, he is only a short term solution. FYI, I do believe $8M is fair value(or even a bargain) for a starting caliber defensive center.(see: salaries of other centers)

Not true. Aaron Brooks was CLEARLY the best player against LA that year we went to the 2nd round.

If Asik is producing those types of stats with starter's minutes than I will be upset. But as a backup to Noah and playing back up minutes, those are good numbers.

I think that Asik would be a MAJOR step in the right direction at least.

After it is all said and done, Morey is going to sign Asik, Lee and Dragic and take advantage of Nets' desperation along with R. A.'s love affair with Kevin Martin.

I'm not a person who's really interested in getting Howard, but in my eyes, I think going after Hibbert or McGee is better for us in the long run. Both of these guys have a higher upside. Yes, Hibbert, McGee, or any other availabe Center may cost us more, but I think Camby would still start over Asik. Hence my reason for not wanting a backup Center. We need someone who can be a starter...jmo.
