If they offered you three options: 1.) You can fly on a TSA secured plane. 2.) You have no security 3.) Pre 9/11 security Which would you pick?
Everything post 9/11 is a giant waste of time and money. It's also rude, unnecessary, and readily abused. Probably unconstitutional too. Not like that matters anymore.
lets say your flight got hi-jacked, there is no way in blue freaking hell, that the passengers would succumb to letting it ram into another sky scraper or any other structure 9/11 is the worst thing to happen since Pearl Harbor, as much as we joke about 'mericans, the thought of something being destroyed by another domestic flight is very minimal, it'll take a combined effort of unimaginative terrorists and cowardly travelers for a repeat
The only thing I like now versus pre 911 not being past security without a boarding pass. Theft at the airport was a big deal before 911. Now those thieves have to buy an ticket.
Agreed. Your flight being hijacked has about the same percent chance as your bus being hijacked. I think TSA is just kind of a waste of money and time. Efforts could be better spent elsewhere.
This, I've thought about situations happening to me, I would no doubt go ape **** on the hijackers because there's actually nothing to lose. Because chances are if we don't succeed, the US air force would send some missiles our way to prevent another 9-11.
Scary thing though is it doesn't just have to be hijackers? Remember the guy who snuck bombs onto a commercial plane in his underwear? Can't really put up much of a fight when they detonate in seconds. He tried to light his pants on fire but passengers put it our with blankets.
I don't mind the TSA. If terrorists get caught on the ground or in the air, I won't have a damn thing to do with it, so I don't mind whatever other measures are in place to attempt to catch them.
I fly a lot, so I wouldn't mind an extra degree of protection, but it's nebulous on how far that degree is (not to say that it would really work...). I can usually get in and out within an hour, so it's not terrible during non-holiday periods, but this body scan **** is pretty terrible, if not inevitable. While I voted pre-9/11 conditions, 9/11 did happen and the consequences (from it) will never be the same. So thinking about it more, I'm not really sure what the proper solution is. And no, taking down a plane before it has a chance to do more damage is not an option...
I really don't think the TSA is that bad. Plan ahead, get to the airport early, dont wear 10 pounds of jewlery, wear shoes that come off easiler, etc. It's really not that bad if you're not a dumbass.
I am in dubai and the TSA here is more random. Some people they ask to take off their shoes other people can keep them on.
I suspect they probably aren't random but are more based on profiling. Anyway I am not surprised that this poll is overwhelmingly "Nah" on the TSA.
Rhad and I differ on the Constitutional questions but I fully agree with that the TSA is a waste of money that isn't worth the hassles it creates.
