Damn I was rooting for the underdog OSU and Maurice Clarett too but you seriously got to admit that they were robbed on that last call. HORRIBLE OFFICIATING. As for Manny vs. Cat, wow, you guys sure took up a lot of space in this thread. I kept pressing next and next and next and here I am on page 8 and I see that half the pages were full of back and forth shots from Manny and Cat. Clutch should make a new "battle" forum. :p

With all due respect....ahem.....the Holocaust, people, the Holocaust. A blown call by the refs is not "the biggest ****ing injustice in the whole ****ing world." It's not even the worst thing in the sports world. That would be the Oilers loss to the Bills ten years ago.
    ;)

I feel your pain, Manny. It was a bad call to decide the game, though, in fairness, Miami got a make-up call the next series. As an avowed indifferent observer of the game, I think this was an amazing game.

    Raven,

I appreciate you acting like "my father". Thanks alot, man. But you know something? It is called emotion and when you have someone who is deliberately trolling like The Cat was, I doubt anyone, including you, if you have the passion that I have for Miami is just going to sit there and listen to that garbage. But thanks for reminding me that you are perfect and I am not.

    f4p,

Everything was fine in this thread until "The Member on Crack" showed up (Clutch's forum title for him). And as mentioned above, it was a very draining loss for me. Hell, I went to bed at 12:30 and probably didn't fall asleep until 2:30 or 3:00.

To me, I felt there were 4 big plays that won this game for OSU:

    1) Clarett's strip of Sean Taylor after his interception
    2) Dorsey getting hurt in the 2nd OT
    3) The LATE pass interference call
    4) The #@$%^ screen pass call to McGahee

Look at each one of these things:

#1 allowed OSU to get a field goal which was huge because it forced Sievers to tie the game instead of winning the game.

#2 was very big. If Dorsey is okay, he hits Eric Winston for a tying TD. Maybe Crudup should have stayed in the game once they got the first and goal.

#3 was obviously big. Maybe it was the right call, but because it was called so late, it leaves the door open that it was a questionable call, especially considering one ref was standing right there and motioned "incomplete" pass. If this call is not made, Miami wins the NC.

#4, in my mind, was the biggest of them all. Willis was finally running somewhat like he had all season and in one play, his game and season and maybe even career are over. The play also lost 7 yards which meant a 54 yard fg try instead of a 47 yard fg try and thus a miss. But most importantly, Miami had no confidence in Payton to run the ball in at the end of the game. Having to throw 2 out of 4 times when you are at the opponents' 2 yard line says right there that you have no confidence in your running game.

At any rate, I am done posting about this topic. If someone has a sincere question they want me to answer, I'll try my best to answer it. Sure I am disappointed and still a little upset, but I realize that life goes on and I also know that my team has done some things that hardly any other team can say. I mean for starters, we just got done winning 34 games in a row which is only the 3rd longest streak of all-time. We will have 3 straight top 2 finishes, and we are 35-2 in 3 seasons which has to be the best record in that time. And of course, we have 5 national championships (all won in my lifetime). Since 1973, no other team has won as many (Oklahoma has won 4 since '73).

And NO ONE here can take those facts away from me.

No problem, Manny. Anytime I can help you further your reputation as a drama queen, just let me know. By the way, I would seriously like to know your definition of trolling, because from everything I have read by Cat in this thread, he wasn't doing it.

    <I>mduke:
63-14 :p ;) (referring to OU's winning score over Texas)

    The Cat:
55-36-1 :p (turning to overall record of Texas vs. OU)</I>

    But even better .... http://bbs.clutchcity.net/php3/showthread.php?postid=693215#post693215

To see you back posting it reveals this as the classic pity party bullcrap that it is. I have no defense, so I'll play the "I'm being oppressed by an administrator so watch me leave and ask me to stay" routine. No one gave a damn, and some actually gave you a couple boots on the way out, so without the proper Jenna-esque love received, you were back in action less than 24 hours later and on a total binge some 48 hours later.

The crack habit is a tough one.

I'd like to stay out of this thread, but this is nuts.

If I was trolling, don't you think one other person in this thread would have recognize it? I don't troll. But, you've been at me for about a month now. If you don't remember, it happened in a thread about the Heisman, where I said I hoped Dorsey didn't win. I remember being called "a baby" and all sorts of similar adjectives to describe how I blamed the officials or other factors for some of my teams struggles, instead of taking responsibility for it. (you never showed a specific example, but obviously the Lakers-Kings is the first thing that comes to mind)

I had tried to generally ignore you lately, because it was obvious you were on the edge. However, in this thread, you did the exact same thing you've been criticizing me for, and you can't expect anyone to ignore it the way you've complained in the past month.

All I said was "I thought officials couldn't decide ballgames?" You've implied that for a month when arguing with me, and now you're saying the opposite. If it's being a troll to respond, then I guess you were "deliberately trolling" in the first place.

Also, do you know what a ****ing moron you look like with the "member on crack" comments? Come on, if I'm such a troll, surely you can come up with an original and creative insult besides the word "jabroni".

True ... but "The Cat" played the role of mduke during the OU-UT games. Antagonize and rub it in ... I think you remember how that one worked out :)

First, it was a joke (notice the smilie at the end). Second of all, in 2002, the overall record has just as much weight as 2000. That game is long over and done with.

Also, Clutch, I want to ask you something. How am I supposed to have a defense when I have no search function? I'd like to look up all the times that I did say congratulations immediately after losing a game and didn't blame the offcials or other factors, but obviously I can't. What am I supposed to do, spend an entire day manually going through every thread?

I would prefer that you not speak for me, but whatever. At the time, I did not feel like posting again. I had been up since 6 in the morning, on about 4 hours sleep, and after about a 5 hour drive back from Dallas. The idea of having to go through this with you in many threads wasn't appealing.

I regret it the next day, but I said to myself that I would try and honor my word, and just occasionally post. Which I did. But when I'm personally called out by someone who's doing the same thing they criticized me for doing... how can you expect anyone not to respond. And as far as no one caring... do you have surveillance over my instant messaging? My emails? My chat? If not, I'd prefer you not try and tell me that.

I don't ****ing want pity. I'd simply like to be able to post in a thread, like everyone else here, without you there to try and pick every part apart. I'm not sure what the hell you want me to do, still. I can be a jackass. I overreact after games, I make excuses. But, given time, I usually do give credit to the other team for winning, except in rare cases (Lakers-Kings). If you would tell me what you wanted me to do, please do, cause it's hard for me to see what I'm denying that you're accusing me of. With a few exceptions, most of it has been dead on.

Also, I'd prefer to not be known as "on crack" since I've never smoked in my entire life. You would think anyone would deserve that much.

I would agree with the Holocaust being the biggest injustice in the world.

But in my mind, the Tuck Rule is the biggest injustice in the sports world. The Houston Oilers blew a huge lead, I didn't see the refs out there handing Frank Reich steriods.

The Oilers blew that game, not the refs.

Looks like Rex Grossman was watching last night.

He's declared early for the NFL draft.

Grossman to make formal announcement next week
    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    By Len Pasquarelli
    ESPN.com

University of Florida quarterback Rex Grossman has decided to forego his final season of college eligibility, ESPN.com has learned, and will formally announce that intention next week.

One of the leading passers in SEC history and a starter for most of the last three seasons, Grossman informed coach John Zook of his decision within the past two days, and will not reconsider.

Grossman, 22, is prepared to file the appropriate paperwork with NFL officials next week. Underclass players must declare their intentions and submit the relevant documents by Jan. 15. Grossman and his family have spent considerable time in the past weeks counseling with various football experts about his NFL potential.

His decision adds another highly regarded passer to what could be a solid quarterback draft class. Because he is an underclass player, scouts contacted Saturday by ESPN.com declined to comment for attribution on Grossman's likely draft status, but one general manager generically referred to him as "a first day guy." The top three rounds of the draft are held on the first day of the lottery.

Conventional wisdom is that two college seniors, Carson Palmer of Southern California and Marshall's Byron Leftwich, will be the first quarterbacks to go off the board on draft day. After that, it is anyone's guess as to how the other quarterbacks will be selected.

In three college seasons, Grossman completed 677 of 1,110 passes for 9,164 yards, with 77 touchdown passes and 36 interceptions. A Bloomington, Ind., native, Grossman was the Heisman Trophy runner-up in 2001 and posted a 23-9 record as a starter.

This season, Grossman completed 287 of 503 passes for 3,402 yards, with 22 touchdown passes and 17 interceptions.

As is the case with most players, Grossman will have an opportunity to display his talents for NFL scouts in postseason workouts. Scouts contacted Saturday said they expect, once Grossman officially commits to the draft, he will be invited to the predraft combines in February.

I thought the call was questionable, even the announcers did, but I could care less now that it is over.
The Cat, how did you get a 'Member on Crack' title? That is messed up.

    What the hell?

I guess the entire chat (from a year ago, I might add) should be banned, then. We were all upset, and it was a freaking joke that people greatly misinterpreted.

Unless you are in the chat on a consistent basis (not during games) and know the context of the discussions that go on in there, then you're not really in a position to comment.

The Cat -- there <I>is</I> no defense. All it takes is one post where you state to the contrary and you're proven wrong. The classic example would be the Rockets playoff "guarantee". You said boldly that you were right here apologizing and not blaming the officials, yet I laid out clearly a dialogue where you freed yourself of any responsibility from that guarantee because one call by Bill Kennedy somehow cost the Rockets 5 games.

You said it was one of a hundred threads on the matter -- does it really matter what the others say? Here's one, well after the fact, where you <B>clearly</B> blame officiating. If there's another one that states otherwise, it's just going to contradict your own words and make you look like... well, like you're on crack.

I bet Trent Lott right now is saying, "Well it's just one of many statements I've said on that matter." Doesn't help one bit.

The right path is to say, "You're right. My bad. I did blame the officials on that one." Instead, you ignore your own words.

No one respects someone that can't admit they're wrong.

As for search ability, it comes and goes, mostly goes. There are just too many posts to open search ability to the public all the time and the BBS was a lot more stable over the holidays because of that. I can't apologize for that, but I do agree you need search to efficiently find whatever you're looking for.

And yes, it was a pity party. Read it again. "So long folks, it's been fun." If you were serious about leaving, you just <B>leave</B>. Instead, you sought words of encouragement that never came. I'd like to help you keep your word -- stick to posting to the fantasy league forum as you said you would.

BullRider -- not sure where you got that from, but yes, The Cat did try to stir up a "revolt" against the site with about 6 people in the chat room, telling them to post on the BBS a request for users of the board to come to the chat room where he held sermon against me (a chat transcript I still have). I let him back in as a favor to someone else - but it's not worth going in to all of it here.

Actually, there were two plays that dramatically helped the Bills win. Once, Beebe ran out of bounds, then back inbounds to catch a long pass. That's illegal. Then one time he caught the ball on the ground, an Oiler player touched him while he was on the ground, he got up and ran (possibly for a TD, but definitely a long way). You know when you're touched and you're on the ground, then the play should be whistled dead, right?

Anyone have a tape of that game...I'd like to see those two plays.

I'd have to agree with this. Quite a few people on the board are this way, dig their feet in and wont relent, ever.

Like it's so horrible to not be right every once in a while. Or to even have a difference of opinion. Not everyone has to agree or is stupid if they don't.

    blah blah blah.

kudos to Clutch for using my fav phrase ever, "pity party".

    I want a funny member title. :( :)
