the same les that would hold him accountable, with his job, for rebuilding this franchise. ironic, huh? dontchathink?
the sad reality as a rockets fan when you realize that the last 3 years of swimming in mediocrity were wasted hoarding trash instead of "assets".
We have been a collection of good players...but lacks any cohesiveness... Seriously...its ridiculous...how many GM's take a job knowing that you have Yao and Tmac...and only to have them fall like butter...and become another statistic...Morey was brought here to shape the roster around stars...and not have to rebuild from scratch...and when Yao retires...the team is without a single star...Adelman made it work...bc he seriously is a damn good coach...but then...to Adelman's shock...Morey wanted to rearrange his coach staff...and wasnt receptive to this in and out of players...seriously...who would be...McHale is probably just as confused himself... So here is the situation and after having eight above avg forwards...Here is what we know...Lowry, Scola and Martin will no longer play on this team... We dont have a center...Kevin McHale is still the teams tallest person...McHale is an average coach...Parsons is our most valuable asset...and we still have to resign Lee, Dragic, and maybe Camby...smh...
This! I don't really know what else you can ask for out of Morey - going after Dwight is EXTREMELY risky, but if Orlando isnt budging, what else can Morey do? He had a big SPLASH last year (good or not), which was rescinded by Commish. Went hard after Marc Gasol and had a deal done (RFA). He went hard after Melo and Bosh. It takes 2+ teams to make a trade go down. I honestly don't think any GM would be able to do any better than Morey without being able to completely clean house and rebuild. Im not sold on the picks, but Morey and their staff do more research than we do - it's THEIR job - they have better inside scoop on these players than we do. I'm sure they've got something brewing with FAgency and of course more trades may still go down.
Now for all the pro tankers..this team is built to tank...right now...in its current state...oh goodness..i cant wait for another season like this...its more clear that we arent getting a star plaayer....even for a rental..and thats a damn shame
....not sure if you guys notices the parallels but you know what team drafted the same position over and over, picked someone who swore up and down he wouldn't play for them...and somehow ended up with some real talent and could be a future contender? Come on - surely someone knows who I am talking about.
....at the risk of this thread immediately being buried by forty "fire morey" threads, fifteen fake "appreciation threads", and 8 really old threads being dug up by idiots who can't let a day pass without reminding someone they were right a long time ago, I'll give you the answer to my question. ...that team is the Minnesota Timberwolves.
They made it out of the first round with Cassell and Cuttino while we couldn't do it with "bigger stars"
WTF is Morey doing!!?!? ok lets get this straight last year he selects this 6'9 tweener Marcus Morris, passing up Kawhi Leonard. this year he picks some more tweeners, Terrence Jones and Royce White. Wait, didn't we have Terrence Williams for dat??! So the Marcus Morris era has finished. And our 2010-2011 tanking of a year has been wasted. Now we got a collection of mediocre vets and rookies who gives us absolutely no identity as a team... its just a random stack of scrubs and noobs who will absolutely guarantee another year of sensationally boring basketball. WTF IS DIS ****?!?!?! I ain't enrolling my son at MIT anymore. I was going to, but not after tonight. AND GTFO "DOC ROCKET". Your "source" probably comes from your tomato. when I get my "source" from my tomato, my chips begin to taste better. You need to learn how to spell "sauce". I can't describe how "super happy" you made me today.
U drunk? Yikes. Let's address this step by step. 1) You're using retrospect? Marcus Morris was pretty badass and probably still is given the opportunity as long as he agrees to rebound, defend and move the ball. Definitely a reliable shot creator. 2) Terrence Williams was a swing man with a bad attitude, not a tweener. 3) We have never tanked. We attempted and still are trying to aquire a superstar. Morey can't make other GMs do a deal they dont want to. Would you rather Morey give up Parsons, D-Mo and our three picks? That's just overvaluing potential. 4) Lay off Doc Rocket. He doesn't owe you anything and you obviously put too much emotional stock into random people on the internet. Chill out yo. Enjoy the new landscape! It's landscapey!
I'll repeat this again: So far Morey's strategy of collecting assets and trading into the top 10 or flipping them for a star has failed...again. Einstein's definition of insanity: doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results. Others don't value Morey's "assets" the same way he does. Also, when the entire world is aware of your strategy, by default you lose leverage when it comes to bargaining and negotiating.
This...and what the ESPN analysts said today rains true...in the end these are just picks...have to do homework...and hope for the best...very few pan out,..some just are very unlucky...I really can see MKG and Drummond being the busts of the year...just imo
Good post. We already know what will happen at the trade deadline, just look back four or five years and you will be reminded how people get so excited and tell the people who are skeptical to wait for the trade deadline, then wait for the draft, then the free agent signing then repeat the cycle. In all this time and patiently waiting for the next time something is bound to happen, nothing significant has happened. This we know well, so do we wait for the free agency, again?
