You can tell that something big fell through. I think the waiters pick screwed everything up because all the other picks moved down and everyone got someone they didn't think they would get.

I think MKG going 2 overall screwed things up considerably. By all accounts, Cleveland wanted Beal, and were desperately trying to get him before Washington. Why wouldn't the Bobcats trade back to 4 and select MKG if they wanted him so bad? Washington was very high on Robinson/Beal. It just doesn't make any logic sense to me.

It was rumored that Sac was considering trading out, but holding out hope for Robinson. To me, the Waiter's selection gave me a lot of hope. At the very least it insured that Barnes would fall to Golden State, leaving Toronto without their 3 top choices. (Barnes, Lillard, Waiters.)

    Then Toronto took Terrence Ross........................................................

Why couldn't Toronto add Kyle Lowry and take Ross at 12? Are they really that stupid? There were no teams in immediate need of Ross between 8 and 12. At At the very least one of Rivers/Ross/Lamb would fall to them. They didn't want Lowry because they are chasing Steve Nash? Do they think they are contenders?

And there you have it. Two completely idiotic moves by two of the worst franchises in the league, had a profoundly terrible effect on the forever unlucky Houston Rockets.

That's extremely depressing. I even remember the quote he had a few days ago when he mentioned the last thing he wanted was to add two more rookies to the team, let alone three.

He wanted to blend veterans with the youth we already had, and today he had to put on that "we just got younger" spin.

Living in Vegas means sports radio here always plays the hits: that means the Rockets are never discussed. The last week had been so exciting: the Rox were on everyone's lips...tomorrow they will be covered for 5 minutes (likely to be made fun of)and will again be ignored until next summer. Body language in both these interviews says a lot: the mouths say excitement, the presentation says "can we go home now?"

I think McHale is the perfect coach right now for the Rockets since we are looking at tanking to rebuild. Who else would qualify for a job that would put there rep on the line. I think this was one essential backup plan to Morey hiring him in the 1st place.

That really was depressing. Two people struggling to slap lipstick on a pig.

You would think after this failure of a night, that the franchise would finally take a hard look at itself and commit to rebuilding. I have no problem with the players we drafted; our scouting for the NBA draft is actually pretty good with the exception of Morris who we gambled and missed on. But to hold these players' developments back because we're still trying to win with veterans is silly.

Come on Morey. Blow it up. Lose to get your young guys some PT. Lose to get a high draft pick next year. Lose to win.

Honestly, they both sounded more depressed than the fans. What a sad day.

Struggling? I don't think he was struggling at all. He was very clearly showing his disappointment.

Anyhow, I wonder what those trades were and if they were anything close to the rumored trades.

I really wouldn't be surprised if McHale resigns from coaching midseason; there's no way he sticks around with a crappy roster that has somehow has 7 PFs, yet only 1 who can score with his back to the basket.

Never thought that McHale had the right temperament to be a coach fulltime; I just hope that Finch is ready to take over.
