ESPNSteinLine Marc Stein Good stuff just now on SC from @Chris_Broussard: Cleveland has discussed dealing Anderson Varejao for No. 7 (Warriors) and No. 12 (Rockets) - Obviously got to be more to the story than this..
OK IF THIS TRADE IS MADE...AND WE DO NOTHING ELSE...I WILL I MEAN I WILL SERIOUSLY..LOSE ALL HOPE IN DARYL MOREY....
Morey should be fired on the spot if he trades the 12th pick for Varejao alone. Morey should only be trolling other teams, not his own damn team.
That would suck. Varejao's decent but in all honesty, he's kind of a bad contract. Plus it's a completely lateral move. This doesn't really bode well for us on the Drummond front either.
Have some faith people, Morey wouldn't do that trade. Come on already. And if something was confirmed, there would have to be way more to the story than just that.
Why would Cleveland want 12. I don't hate the idea of Varejo per se, but I know it is not a straight up deal. I could see Martin being included, but what else would Cleveland include? I don't see it -- unless Houston is maybe going to acquire the 7th pick from Golden State for Lowry and or picks and then move that over to Cleveland with Martin and probably some other pick for Varejo and the 4th pick.
I would seriously hope for something more out of that pick. However, we would have essentially traded Dalembert for Varajao and Leuer. No question we come out way ahead here, but I might take a flyer on someone at 12 instead. (Leonard?) This move screams Les if true. Seeing that Golden State was offering 7, the deal must include more.....
