With 14 players under contract, who starts the season on IR or who gets waived? The latest FoxSports Team Report brings up the fact the Rockets ate Maloney's and MacLean's salary by waiving the pair. They also suggest that with the Rockets unwillingness to take back a long term contract in a deal, that moving Drew and Rogers in the final year of their contracts isn't as easy as it would appear.

    Players Under Contract:

    Anderson
    Bullard
    Cato
    Collier
    Drew
    Francis
    Langhi
    Mobley
    Norris
    Olajuwan
    Rogers
    Taylor
    Thomas
    Williams

Personally, I can't see the value in waiving any of these players. If a deal isn't there today, wait until someone's point guard goes down. They're also insurance in case our own players get hurt. Waiving Maloney was a no-brainer. Waiving MacLean might have been a professional courtesy since there was no room for him.

That still leaves the question: Assuming all are healthy to start the season, who gets waived or who starts the year on IR? It seems Drew is a lock to be on IR, while Bullard or Rogers could start the season there. Maybe even Collier?

Here is how I think the roster is going to be on opening day:
    Anderson
    Collier
    Langhi
    Cato
    Olajuwon
    Francis
    Mobley
    Norris
    Taylor
    Rogers
    Williams
    Thomas
    IR
    Miller
    Bullard
    Drew

Explain to me the logic behind signing Miller to a contract and then asking him to sit on the IR????

Also I think that Bullard will be in the 12 and Rogers on the IR.

Miller won't be resigned. He did not make the team last year, and came back because of injuries. I think Rogers has trade value, and he will be gone as well. If not, we will see some minor injuries during preseason, and the players will rightfully be rotated on and off the IR.

Here is an interesting fact. The number one reason for emergency room visits (recreation) last year was pickup basketball. IR will take care of itself, imo.

    Here we go again......

    5) Dream / Cato / Collier

    4) Taylor / KT / Bull

    3) Walt / Langhi

    2) Shandon / Cat

    1) Steve / Moochie

Therefore IR = Bryce Drew and Carlos Rogers >>> until the first sprained ankle, hip pointer, poked eye, back spasm, slight hamstring pull, bruised thigh, or muscle strain.....about the 3rd week in November!
