IMO Rivers is a slashing shooting guard trapped in a point guards body. He has high basketball IQ and lots of heart (which can't be taught). His problem is he's not a consistant outside shooter to play the two, and he doesn't pass well enough to play the one.
I dont know the guy, but if his shooting is his only weakness then thats not a dead loss. Shooting can be taught fairly easily.
If that's the case then why isn't everyone in the NBA a good shooter? Shooting may be able to be 'taught' easily, but it certainly isn't 'learned' easily.
If all else fails I won't be mad if we just draft Number 8 and 18 and draft BPA. With or without Howard. We do need to just let Lowry go though (in trade). Better for the team and respectful to him. Prefer to trade Martina and Scola as well. Not scared of rebuilding or Howard.
Maybe people don't fully apply themselves to their craft or think they can get by as-is for a few years? We've witnessed Lowry's improved shooting, particularly his 3-ball and we'll soon find out if Parsons spent anytime this offseason concentrating on his shooting. I think the real question is: "does X have the desire/passion/drive to improve at Y?".
This is pretty cool Chris Sheridan: If you missed it, Tweet of the Night went to Chandler Parsons, who said goodbye to old teammates & welcomed a new one: http://www.sheridanhoops.com/2012/0 Read more: http://hoopshype.com/twitter/media.html#ixzz1z6jy3sx9
