There is no comparison between KT and Eddie right now. KT is simply a much better player. He rebounds, scores and plays defense better than Eddie does. The hope is that Eddie will turn into (not just a better player) a superior player. If Eddie turns into a rebounding, shot blocking stud that can score and pass the rock then we will be in excellent shape.
You can't compare Eddie Griffin to Amare Stoudemire because Stoudemire is one of the few young players who came in the league fully developed for the NBA. You also can't compare Griffin to Kenny Thomas because Kenny Thomas has a few years of experience on Griffin, and also got to work out with HOFers like Hakeem and Charles. You saw what a world of difference working out with Charles and Dream did for Othella. So, yeah Kenny Thomas is a better player then Griffin right now, or at least a more productive player, but he also had better teachers. Kenny Thomas 20 that he dropped didn't do anything, his team lost.
I think sometimes posters get upset when someone speaks the truth vrey harshly, but its still the truth. So you agree that he is an overrated player. All of these people calling Griffin overrated, raving about Kenny Thomas, we'll see what happens later this year and next year when Griffin is a stud at PF after getting some experience.
Uhh....he's not overrated. NO ONE CARES ABOUT HIM. I don't think anybody in the NBA knows his name. I think he is doing just fine anonymously. Eddie is young and I wish he was as good as Amare but he's not. I still think his defense is excellent and he can develop. He's not that bad. Patience.................
He's 20 years old. Besides, name me a team that is strong at all 5 positions. Even championship teams aren't strong at all 5 positions. "Surely you can't be serious......I am serious.....and don't call me Shirley."
People should stop putting hope on this kid. I would package him with Cat for P. Gasol if the money thing works out for both sides. The Rox will have tough time to compete with the emerging teams, Suns, Blazers, and Utah. All the cylinders are cranking now, except the PF position. They need the players fill in their own roles. SF is fantastic. JP is awesome. Yao & Cato are terrific combination. Cat is good enough to put 15-20pts per game easily. EG & MoT are black sheeps. I don't know how long the Rox can let this procrastinate, hopefully not until they are 3 games behind the Lakers.
good example drummer. Lakers. Derek Fisher- Average. C Kobe Bryant - THE BEST. A Rick Fox - Average. C Samaki Walker - LIKE TERENCE MORRIS...TERRIBLE. D Shaquille O'Neal - THE BEST. A They have two good players but the rest are just role players. They shouldn't have won anyways, right? Kings...future Championship team. Mike Bibby- More than Average. B Doug Christie - Defensive Specialist. C Peja Stojakovic- he's a great player but doesn't get the ball much. B Chris Webber - One of the best... A- Vlade Divac - .........funny to watch. C MAVERICKS...we should be like the Mavericks Steve Nash- wild and amusing Canadian. B+ Michael Finley- awesome.... B++ Adrian Griffin - Useless. C Dirk Nowitzki - NEAR THE ELITE. A Raef Lafrentz - Okay. C Look at the Mavericks. They have three extraordinary players but they are succeeding after A COUPLE of years together. Steve Francis, Cuttino Mobley, James Posey, Elton Brand, and Yao Ming? That is a close to championship team. I still wouldn't give up Eddie though. Give up Maurice Taylor BACK TO THE CLIPPERS and Terence Morris....MAYBE give up Glen Rice or Moochie.
GRRRR. I can not believe that we are having this discussion. EG is progressing fine he is twenty and is getting better, it might be be the dramtic progression that Yao Ming has shown but it has been there. If EG is a poor man's Robert Horry would be great for this team. Horry is a wonderful player that does not demand shots, plays defense, does not complain about playing time, was traded to detroit and when the deal did not go through still played well for us, he always had Hakeem's back, could play both 4 and 3, and hits big shots or blocks big shots. We would not want that not a player that would mesh with the team and do what is needed to win. What player do we want in place of EG? KT well I remember more then one trade KT thread and we need a Defesive minded SG in his place. MOT? I don't think so I think he might be still hurt....maybe that is wishful thinking... but he lacks something to push him to the level we need. Cato? Not a bad option on defense and for rebounds but he can't pass into YAO, he has hands of stone and I don't think he is a long term answer but a spot answer for sure. Trade? who for who we need to think who would get can we sign him after this year, what does that do to the cap, how will he fit in.... I could go on but you see where this is going right now EG is the best option and I think it will pay off having it so. Leave EG alone. Be a FAN! Love the Rockets, live or otherwise but understand that teams don't just spring up in most cases it takes time. I have been a rockets Fan for 19 years few times in that time have I been as excited about the rockets. Founder of MARH. Members Againist Rocket Hating.
That's one number. Here are some more numbers from the game: ...the Sixers lost by 18. ...the Sixers were outrebounded by 12. ...both Phoenix forwards scored 20+ points on 50%+ shooting. Want more? Since the KT trade, the Sixers are 2-4. Before, 17-9. The 2 wins? Clippers and Lakers- both sub .500 teams. The Lakers game took OT to win, and the average margin in the wins was under 6. KT's FG% in these wins is 33%. The 4 losses? Utah, Atlanta, Golden State, Phoenix. 2 playoff teams, 2 pretenders. Average margin loss in these games was 14- the only one that was close was a 2 point loss to Atlanta. Both games against playoff teams were not even close. If you're curious as to the Rockets' record since making the trade, they're 4-3, which comes to a .571 winning %, very close to the current .567 overall. The 4 wins have come against New Orleans, Indiana, Atlanta, and Milwaukee. 2 playoff teams, 2 losers. Amazingly enough, all 4 wins have been in double digits, with the 2 games against non playoff teams being won by 19 and 23 points. The 3 losses have come against Minnesota, Utah, and New York. 2 perennial playoff teams, and then the Knicks. The losses have an average margin of 11 but that's semi-skewed by an anomaly 16 point loss to the Knicks. Going back to the original ill advised premise of a "power forward problem"- #1. I, and seemingly the Rockets management, and many other posters here don't see it that way at all. #2. The above numbers tell me that making a move that "upgrades" doesn't necessarily make the team better. #3. The odds of finding a PF on the market between now and the trade deadline that can be had for what we can offer (uh, do we have anything) that is better than KT are basically negligible. #4. With #3 in mind, the earliest you can make a move would be the summer. With another year's experience, and another summer underway, why would you move a 20 year old PF with EG's talent and potential? PS- lee: If Griffin becomes 14-12-3 with increased strength so he doesn't get moved around easily, this team wins multiple titles. Keep in mind, we're going to start to see a more consistent Yao Ming by next year, and I think our SF play will improve as Posey gets more comfortable, and if Nachbar becomes the gunner that we think we have. I think asking Griffin to become one of the top 5 rebounders in the league may be a bit much, but I think he can grab at least around 9 rebounds or so. It'll be interesting to see how much Griffin will be able to score on this team in the future- keep in mind, Francis is going to score around 20 a game, and most think Yao will do the same. How significantly does Cat's scoring drop? If Boki starts showing some Peja-like ability, what about him? I wouldn't be surprised if Griffin is "limited" to 14 or 15 a game if we develop into a Sacramento-like 5 weapon (or 6 or 7, if you include Bobby Jackson becoming a 20 point scorer out of practically nowhere, plus Turkoglu, for us we'd have Taylor and Posey or Nachbar as the off the bench scoring weapons) team.
That was the best post I've ever seen! Hmm...the Sixers didn't have Keith Van Horn. That's why they lost by so much and were outrebounded so much. Their two power forwards were useless. AND the reason the Sixers or 76ers are struggling is because Allen Iverson. What happened to scoring 30 per game? Recently he has been struggling to reach double digits. I hope he does better. I don't want to see the Nets win again. I hope the Pacers don't win either. Anyways, good luck to Kenny Thomas. AND I believe we should keep Eddie Griffin. Patience!
This is true. Part of the fun in being a Rocket fan is watching a player like Eddie develop. Teams as young as the Rockets always have more potential talent than veteran teams that are more consistent in their play ..the Rockets future is brighter now than ever before..because of players like EddieG.
And I third it. With fans like these, who needs enemies? I believe youAndMe when he says he's been a longtime fan. And I believe that he goes to a lot of the games. But he's the worst kind of fan. He's the kind who imagines every possible negative scenario for the Rockets and every possible positive scenario for every other team. He gives me a headache and he's on track to inspiring me to break my longstanding policy of not using the ignore function. This is our best year and our best squad in a long, long time, and all this "fan" can do is scream and cry that the sky is falling. I'm in no way sure that that deserves a banning, but I sure would love it if I never saw another post from this boring crybaby.
You all hate extremely positive people too. Who would you rather ban if you had to choose? Me or YouAndMe?
I'm not sure, but it is pretty ignorant for you to have made 568 posts in a month. Some how I doubt you have made even a third of these posts with any sort of quality in mind.
he's had less than a season and a half...and this is the first time he's seen real starters' minutes.
I think Eddie will be good. And with him starting he will strugle but he will get experiance against the good players in the league (starters). And he will also speed up his progress whatever that may be. I think with Francis and Ming, whatever Griffin becomes is just icing on the cake.
