We all know what you thought! Anyway, there is another thread out there somewhere. With the search function out for who knows how long, it will be hard to find. A few pages back, at the minimum.
Definitely in the running for Swirve.com's top movie of the year. This year will be the hardest for me to pick.
About the music issue... I listened to some of the soundtrack and its pretty solid. I guess it was just used badly by Jackson. The best example of this is when Legolas surfed down the stairs, and they played the main theme speeded up about 10 times. That was so bad, I cringed really badly. Typical cornball that doesn't need to be in a movie of this calibur.
I think the movie was AWESOME! The first one was great too. Think about it. In the first two weeks they've already sold number one amount of tickets. $40,000,000 worth!
The books are really good too, and I agree, the second movie didn't go with the book as well as the first one. But if it were to go perfect with the book, that would be one long heck of a movie.
Simpsons quote. From the Halloween episode where Homer dreams he is King Kong and Mr. Burns uses Marge as bait to get him (just like in King Kong). Burns takes a ship to the island, and he asks Smithers how he thinks the ship's crew would deal with having a woman on board, and Smithers responds "I think women and seamen don't mix." Mr. Burns responds with the line I gave.
But didn't you say you hated the movie? The best example of the music, IMHO, was when the Ents start their march to Isengard. The kid who sang that part has a really, really, good voice. The last song was pretty cool as well. Did anyone notice the 'little' things that PJ added? For example, the carion birds flying around Helms Deep before the battle.
