Now this I'm on board with. Forget going after 1 year rental Howard and forget Deron.

I want to move up in the draft and get Gordon.

I wouldn't say period at all. If we can resign Goran and add on Josh Smith or Eric Gordon I think we could be a top 3 or possibly top 2 team in the west. A fifth year and a shot at the finals is definitely something that would make Howard think about staying.

Nope. I don't want to see his collection of expensive suits.

I would hope so, but from what I've seen it looks like Howard is more into big markets and big payday than winning.

Id be surprised if the Hornets wouldn't pony up and match any offer, but he's worth going after before Williams IMO. Free agency comes last and isn't a concern right now.

First step is to aquire those picks that give Orlando a deal they cannot say no to, trade for Dwight, have additional trade setup afterwards to bring in a secondary player like Gasol or Josh Smith, and then comes free agency.

If you are somehow able to get those two pillars(Howard & Gasol/Smith) with the assets that the Rockets have first, then free agency will come alot easier.

Would New Orleans match a four year max deal with a trade kicker (i.e. like the trade kicker in the DeAndre Jordan deal the Clippers matched but probably now regret)?

    how about:

    Trade for DHoward
    Trade for JSmith
    Sign Dragic
and Sign EGordon OR wait for next year and sign Harden

    Is it possible?

Depends at where they see Anthony Davis in his readiness to compete right now in the NBA. If they think he's going to step right in like a Tim Duncan, they match, and hope they can put good young pieces around those two guys soon.

LOL Do you think we have room for both Dwight and Josh's contracts?

The cap is at 54 mil I think. Your going to be at somewhere close to 60 Mil just in these four players unless you can get a bargain with Dragic. I think Les and Morey would go for it if they can move out all other big contracts in Scola, Martin, Lowry, etc. Lee would probably have to be let go of as well.

Given that the low probability of success for NBA trade discussions (99% of which end up going nowhere-- or else you are gonna have a lot more trades in the NBA than there actually have been), the reasonable thing for the Rockets to do, and what they probably are doing right now, is to explore every possible angle: 5th pick, 6th pick, 7th pick, 8th pick, 10th pick, Dwight Howard, Deron Williams Eric Gordon, Josh Smith, Roy Hibbert, Kris Humphries, Omer Asik, etc. You never know which of the pieces will come together.
