Everyone says Lowry is the piece to move up in the top 10 that everyone wants.

So offer Orlando Lowry 14,16,18 & whatever else they want (Martin, Scola, etc) for Howard (and I'm sure they would stick us with Turkoglu's awful contract).

Let them do the work to maneuver those 3 picks to move up (if the want)...

Seems like Morey is acting as GM for both Orlando and us and they still haven't agreed to squat.

It forces them to trade with us on draft night so they can make their picks.

I'm sure Orlando is trying to rebuild the "OKC way." They want to start over with 2 high draft picks.

Or we want high draft picks ourselves in case the Dhow trade doesn't go through

I don't think the problem is offering them enough assets. The problem is convincing Howard to stay when he does sign. Orlando will eventually cave into an offer they can't refuse.

You also hear Houston wants to move up in general if they can't get Dwight. If no Dwight, you move up and take(have) someone for yourself.

    bingo.

orlando doesn't want to rebuild with a bunch of mid-first-rounders. they want to rebuild with high draft picks.

DM is acquiring the pieces needed to obtain the high draft picks.

i agree with the OP.... I think Morey may be angling for Dwight but the picks he has and may acquire gives him a lot of flexibility to move in any direction. Plus if nothing pans out, we essentially rebuild with these draft picks..... I Guess it is a way of rebuilding without tanking....

Rebuilding with mid first rounders is what the Rockets will be doing next year if Howard is traded to us and then leaves. If Morey can get high draft picks now he may consider holding on to them if he does not think he can get D12 to stay with Houston.

Nope , they wont have a pick .... It will go to the Nets to satisfy the terms of the Twill trade.

    Let me re-phrase.

If Orlando guaranteed they will make the deal if we get and trade them two top 10 picks (with other pieces) involved, OK.

If we want to make the moves to use the picks ourselves because we feel there are future building pieces, OK.

However if we are just giving up Lowry, Bud, (our current picks and whoever else) on the "hopes" that Orlando will accept 2 top 10 picks, then it doesn't make much sense.

This leaves a potential that we give up Lowry (a proven solid player with a great contract), Bud (gone), don't get Howard, then draft 2 duds (there are really no sure things outside of Davis in this draft) and then we really stink...

In that case I would much rather hold on to Lowry and trade him for a proven commidity (like a Josh Smith, Iggy, or something else).

Dwight Howard is like, REALLY GOOD.

Orlando aren't going to take the chance that he nets them 3 mid round picks. If he REALLY doesn't want to play there, they can always sit back and wait and trade him at the deadline.

I would imagine if getting Dwight is our real goal, then Morey knows the price range he needs to meet. It's not like he's going to blindly acquire certain picks in hopes to get Dwight.
