    Shaq.
    Duncan.
    Yao.

To paraphrase, "If he ain't at the top of the class, it don't take long to call the roll"

Duncan isn't playing center, David Robinson is the center. In fact when David Robinson isn't in, they don't move Duncan to center, Malik Rose and Kevin Willis come in and play center, so Duncan may be the size of a center, and has the game of a center, but he isn't a center, at least in NBA terms.

Let's say that Duncan is not pure center, unlike Yao. He is listed as F/C.

What they're "listed" as doesn't mean all that much, at least in my opinion. If a guy is listed as a center, but never plays center, why even consider him a center?

I think Duncan will switch to center next season after Robinson retires.

Then that'll be something to talk about next season.

Everybody's the second best center after Shaq. The center position in the NBA is fairly sucky.

I think that even after DRob retires SAN will play Duncan primarily at C. Seems his game is better suited there and they would prefer to get some physical player to protect Duncan (not in the derogatory sense... instead, to make the physical plays, including the hard foul when needed). Even if its a physical PF that they convert to a C (since "true" Cs are hard to come by).

HUH???? They are looking at Michael Olowakandi from the Los Angeles Clippers. They are looking at a lot of centers. During training camp, they signed SEVEN CENTERS. Of course they waived some, but they are looking for a center. Duncan is not going to center...he could play center though. He can be a center. Anyways...he's not...so Yao is the 2nd best center in the league!!! He is!!! Who else??? Nobody...

Behind him would be Olowokandi...or Ben Wallace...or Ilgauskas of Cleveland...or Brad Miller. Brad Miller does not have any special talents and doesn't do anything fancy but just gets rebounds and scores. He has double-doubles at least every other game.

But Yao is the best! besides Shaq.

Duncan is a center, San Antonio plays two centers in their starting lineup.

Tim Duncan is a 7 footer who can be a center but is a power forward. He is a center but wants to be a power forward. The Center is a dying position. A true point guard is rare as well..

When the other team guards him with a center, I think it's safe to say that he's playing F/C.
