I don't know if anyone else has said it, but it is used to create separation.

For me, and pure basketball, it's set shots or nothing.

I'm also pre-Naismith rules schism. I don't even recognize dribbling as legal. It should be pass-pass-pass-underhand shot.

I'm the same way. I won't even play on "baskets" unless it's actually a woven basket with no opening on the bottom. I'm that pure.

    I never do any crossovers.

I leave those to the professionals in the NBA.

What's the point of passing in basketball? Too flashy, gives defenders the chance to intercept.

It's better to just dribble to the player you want to give the ball to and hand it off to him.

since we are talking baskets, My shooting percentage goes down to 0% when I play on a hoop without a net! does anyone else have this problem? or is it just my brain shrinking?

I used to practice my dribbling with three tennis balls like the dude from "above the rim".

You should be the gm of the bobcats. You already came up with a team that would help them improve by a lot
Then you could teach them your basketball ideas such as not dribbling between the legs.

Between the legs is not flashy at all...
Spin moves are much much flashier, and they still work.
    I love spin moves.

I am embarrassed to be vietnamese after you posted this ****.. You must be that asian kid that just waits for the ball and shoots.

    then misses..

then run late back on defense...

    then misses again..

Hey, just popping into a random thread with a random question:

When I am dribbling a basketball is there a skill or move I can learn to create separation from my defender?

Netball had it right. Why did basketball have to come in and ruin the image of such a sacred game?

Please, keep that flashy and useless dribbling to Globetrotter antics, allow 3 feet of mannerly separation on defense, and shoot the ball over your head with two hands like a real gentleman of sport.
