First, let me wish everyone here a Merry Christmas (or insert you favorite winter holiday) and a Happy New Year. I've haven't been around much the past half month, I've just been too busy with family life chasing my 2 little kids around while my wife was working. Watching 2 small kids is a 24 hour job which is exhausting, but very rewarding. It's amazing how much I missed reading all the different posts and topics but there is just too much I missed to try and catch up. I'll try not to be too long winded getting to the point of my post... Last week at the Rockets loss to the Jazz , my daughter and I were the Rockets 6th man of the game, were introduced the fans during a timeout in the second quarter, given a 6th man of the game drum, then watched the 2nd, 3rd and 4th qtr from down on the base line. That's our 2nd trip onto the floor with the 6 pack of $10 tickets I bought us for christmas. Priceless. One of the games in the 6 pack was for New Years Eve. Well, the 9 oclock tip being a little late for a 2.5 year old to go the game, I some how convinced my wife to go with me. She was a big fan durring the glory years back before we were married, but when Hakeem left and the times got tough she lost interest. I go to as many games as I can and I ALWAYS watch if I can't go and she puts up with my rabid devotion as much as a wife can. Well she had a blast last night and now wants to join the Yao Ming fan club. After the game we skipped the Lil Romeo show and came home and had a drink on the front porch and rang in the new year to the sound of gunfire in the hood. How romantic, glad my car didn't get shot like rockHEAD's. After that I embraced the plague that is male pattern baldness that has been creaping up on me since I turned 30, 3 years ago. My bald sot and receding hair line are gone for good, my beard has become a goatee, and I couldn't be happier with the result. As I stated way back in the thread about shaving your head... 2002 was my last year with hair. Embrace that which you can not change and you may find happiness. Hope you all have a Happy New Year.
Been there. Done that. Welcome aboard my friend. (Although once in awhile you may have a dream in which your hair line has magically returned )
One of my favorite experssions (as I am bald): "God only made a few perfect heads, and the rest, he put hair on."
I feel compelled to post something just because I am in the spelling competition, and because I have recently celebrated my thirtieth year on this orb. Oh yeah, and also because I keep looking at my forehead and wondering if it is elongating. The creep that starts after commencing your thirtieth year is gradual. In fact, it is so slow it is virtually unnoticeable, unless of course you are married and your wife likes messing with you. I am not bald yet. In fact I am far from it. But I will post in another ten years or so. I will be under the screen name ‘Kojak’.
Welcome to the club of reality, my friend. My only regret about baldness is the last pictures of me WITH hair are horrible styles. I pray my future children never see those pics. I don't shave my head with a razor but use the clippers with no guard so it's pretty close. I shave once a week. My wifes loving hands on my head is all I need to forget about anything that might be missing on top. There is a lot more in life to worry about...now go enjoy life!
I just want to know what it's like for you who've begun to go bald. Do you notice hair all over the place and how much do you lose from week to week?
It's been so long I don't even remember hair being all over the place. You just notice the receading hairline. Then, grab a mirror and look at the top of your head and behind it. That can be scary to the first timers. I can grow hair out of my nose and ears like a mother though. Go figure.
for me it was a gradual process. I started to get a bald spot and then the hair in front center stopped growing and started thining. I would have soon had the "Horse shoe of Hair" if I hadn't shaved it all off. This morning was the first time I got a real smooth shave and it feels great.
