So your evidence that Mitt Romney would throw us into a war that would make Iraq look easy consists of:
    1. He gives speeches supporting the military in an election year.
    2. Fox News talks about the threat of Iran having nuclear weapons.

    Riiiiiigggggghhhhhhhhttttttttttt.

When did Operation Fast and Furious start again? How many orders of magnitude larger was it than any previous operation? How many people died of those guns and how many crime scenes were they found at?

Which operation does Mexico have a major problem with?

Almost the exact same post as your original post was brought up in Basso's thread.

I often wondered where these Republicans who are so critical of executive power and so demanding of transparency were from Jan. 2001 to Jan. 2009.

His foreign policy advisers are all the same Neo-Cons who served under Bush. Their foreign policy is one of US military intervention to influence regime change in the Middle East. To expect anything besides a strong push for another war from his administration is utter ignorance...

Romney is actually more concerned about nuclear war with Russia and has made repudiating arms reduction agreements the centerpiece of his foreign policy. That would probably be a tough war. Though i doubt he'd start it as it may conflict with dressage events he competes in.

Facts and fairness aside, the visual imagery here is pretty damn funny.

it's no longer about them. They aren't even asking for documents about what happened during Fast & Furious, but rather about whether or not anyone lied to congress about it.

They moved on from that. Apparently you didn't get the memo.

What are the documents about? What do they have to do with the case and the death of the agents?

Or is it about what happened AFTERWARDS.

"Attorney General Eric Holder's refusal to fully disclose the documents associated with Operation Fast and Furious and President Obama's assertion of executive privilege serves to compound this tragedy. It denies the Terry family and the American people the truth. Our son, Border Patrol Agent Brian Terry, was killed by members of a Mexican drug cartel armed with weapons from this failed Justice Department gun trafficking investigation. For more than 18 months we have been asking our federal government for justice and accountability. The documents sought by the House Oversight Committee and associated with Operation Fast and Furious should be produced and turned over to the committee. Our son lost his life protecting this nation, and it is very disappointing that we are now faced with an administration that seems more concerned with protecting themselves rather than revealing the truth behind Operation Fast and Furious."

Why do you seem to know so little about this? Hundreds of people are dead with guns intentionally supplied by the BATFE. Hundreds more people will die. Who had oversight over this? Who approved it? Who will have their head roll as a consequence. Until recently it wasn't even acknowledged as happening.

Why don't you start with the basic fact that this has been being investigated for 18 months and nothing has been found linking Obama to this. At worst Eric Holder may have lied about knowing of the operation.

It's clear the FEDs didn't endorse gunwalking as part of this.

What they want to do is dig through documents at this point and try to find something they can make controversial out of in an election year. They want to see how the White House was communicating with the Justice Department to look for a gotcha moment. But there isn't any justification to do that.

You can't just go after the executive branch without cause. It's like searching your home, the law can not do it just for fun. They have to have a good reason to do so. There's no good reason to go an further on this. It's clear that this was an ATF operation.

How it happened, why it happened, what the thinking was, all of that has been aired out.

So what is it you want to know at this point? Obama doesn't get involved into every single operation executed by every single agency. But when it goes haywire, he has to adjust and react to it.

What Republicans want is to get all his reactions so they can comb through and find something they can attack him on in a political ad. I think Obama is smart to invoke executive privileged. This is exactly why it exists.

In theory, an official charged with contempt could be punished with a fine or jail, but no one expects it to come to that. Weeks or months of controversy feeding into the presidential election campaign is the more likely result.

Holder has offered to negotiate with the committee. They said no. They are not interested in the documents themselves except for getting maybe gotcha sound bites to use against Obama. They are interested in finding any way to embarrass Obama and that's it.

Also key documents have been kept out of the light.
Awesome, who in the BATFE is holder going after? Who holds veto and oversight over dumb operations? Who is fired and who will go to prison? What new policies and safeguards are in place to insure the BATFE stops killing people?

    enlighten us
What was his adjustments and reactions? So far we have just seen lies about it's existence and then retractions when those lies were obvious. That type of action makes people suspicious, and rightly asking for all the details.

This has been going on for 18 months. Holder has given testimony to the committee twice. He has agreed to let the committee review the documents in exchange for dropping the contempt vote, confident there was nothing in the documents that would incriminate him. The committee refused that offer.

Why would the committee refuse to review the documents? Because they want to leak the documents to the public. That's the only reason why they want a hard copy.

In AG Holder's own words: the DOJ has only provided 5% of all relevant documents to Fast and Furious.

It's hard to run an investigation with only 5% of the facts.
