Renew it! Even as a backup C, he's worth the 6.7 million.

He's stable, hard working and a good team player.

Why in the world would he want to stay? He could walk away with 2.5 million if I'm not mistaken and sign with a contender. I am sure the Heat / OKC / Spurs wouldn't mind paying for a servicable center, especially Miami with their terrible centers.

I hope the Rockets don't commit to him, he's lazy, started to become worse off the bench and decides when he's going to show up and when not. Camby is the way to go and with possible minutes for D-Mo at center and drafting Zeller / Henson, there will be no minutes for Dalembert.

Dalembert should only be on the team if they know they can make a deal for him at the deadline since his contract will expire.

He's a professional. Unlike the young guys out there he won't speak his mind. He'll just say the right things, then when he gets bought out he'll sign a larger contract than he had with the Rockets. It can't help him either way to say that he hopes to get bought out.

If Dalembert wants to avoid getting "dumped" on draft day, then he should agree to amend his contract to push the guarantee date on his 2012-13 salary back to late July (or even August). This would allow the Rockets more time to work out trades that may put both Dalembert and the Rockets in a better situation. And it's not like Dalembert would be getting firm contract offers in the first week or two of free agency anyway.

We can't afford to keep both Sammy & Cammy, money & pt wise. I'd rather trade/buy out Sammy.

whoa there, mother lover. You probably just watched him that one game out every 2 weeks he showed up. From what I saw throughout the season, you can get the same production at a cheaper price from a younger player. I'd rather have chuck hayes and a marcus camby combo. :p

haha. Obviously, he wants to not lose out on 5 million dollars this year if he gets traded to get bought out or simply gets bought out for the 1.5 mil.

The way I see it-If they can't find a great deal for him on draft night they should just keep him, and let him play out the season. No harm, no foul. I think he will be traded next week though. He's going to be an attractive asset on draft day for alot of different reasons.

Also once he is bought out alot of teams will pursue him for the lower mid level acception. Teams like NYK/MIA etc. will all heavily pursue him after a buyout. They just wont have much to offer other than the vet min. or low mid level.

Yeah, a 31-year old marginal center with a questionable work ethic fits so well into our plans for the future.

Get rid of everyone 27 or older and rebuild.

I am very surprised that Billy would actually post a blog that actually makes it seem like someone actually likes playing in Houston. Doesn't seem to fit his agenda.

i must ask why. he's not part of our future. $6,7 mil to tread water sounds a lot like last year. That money needs to be spent on something that will move us closer to rebuilding the team; his playing time needs to go to someone who we are developing as part of our future.

I like Dalembert, but we need to rebuild, and he doesn't fit.

Never should have signed him in the first place.
