    1. Could have easily been mistaken, or colluded.

    2. Why would the doctor have to lie? If a man is capable of murdering another human being, he may be capable of even more disgraceful acts

    3. If he had done as i suggested, he may still have begged for the ambulance to hurry up if he had only meant to batter the guy, not kill him.

    I'm not saying he is guilty or he shouldn't have done it etc etc I was just presenting an alternative scenario to provoke futher thinking.

    I am playing devils advocate here, nothing more, and for the record, if I caught a guy doing that to my daughter, id have killed him and not even bothered about an ambulance.

    It serves a purpose to faciliate discussion of the devil's advocate is taking on the role that the decision was incorrect.

    But you could play devil's advocate in any situation then. Surely in some situations playing devil's advocate really does serve no use? At least I think so.
