Mario Elie is no comparison to MJ regardless of kiss of death three pointer or not. Mario was a good role player on a couple of great teams but to say that Steph was out of place by using him in his example is false. Mario<Jordan just as RookieGarnett<RookieAmare

    1. Marbury missed about a quarter of his games in NJ due to injury.

    2. He didn't have MacCulloch, Jefferson, or Collins.

    3. Kittles missed an entire year and a half. Keith Van Horn missed half a year. Lucious Harris missed a lot of time, too. Jayson Williams broke his leg twice, the second time ending his career.

    Completely different team.

None of these still changes the fact that Marbury does not make his teamates around him better. He has always been a selfish, me-first shooter. He is a good scorer but he is not exceptional to win games on a consistent basis. His defense has a lot to be desired also. If you people think Francis lacks Bball IQ, watch this guy play every other night on League pass. Bottom line, he is a cancer. And until he is exiled from Suns, they are going to be hard pressed to win a championship.

You can look at it from the other end of the spectrum as well. The Suns were a perennial playoff team w/ Jason Kidd and had one second round appearance. After acquiring Marbury last year, the Suns became a 36-46 team, not even close to making the playoffs. You can argue that it was only Marbury's first year w/ the team, but it was also Kidd's first year w/ the Nets and look where he took them. You can also argue that this year the Suns look pretty good so far (although I still don't think they're a playoff team), but then I can use your argument and say Kidd never had a beast down low in Amare Stoudemire nor a Shawn Marion who can consistently hit his jumpers and create his own shot as he can now. Anyway you want to look at it, Jason Kidd is a far better player than Stephon Marbury.

Yeah, Cliff Robinson is really the difference between a 36-46 team and a perennial playoff team with the ability to make it to the second round... give me a break

Do you even remember watching this team? He was easily the 2nd best all-around player on the team. Good shooter, good defender, solid rebounding from the 3.

You'd be a fool to think not.

He was a good player, but not one to give a team 15 extra wins...especially a perimeter oriented team like the Suns desperate for some inside help. A soft power forward who prefers to roam the outside is the last thing they need. They already had Marbury, Hardaway, and Marion on the perimeter...adding their power forward there doesn't help. Do you seriously think that you add Cliff Robinson to the Suns from last year, and they'd be a 50 win, 2nd round caliber playoff team?

He was playing 3 until Marion emerged, which was rather late in Kidd's tenure if I remember correctly. Once he had to move to PF, he wasn't as good.

He also had Dice for a year or two if I remember correctly. Manning was 6th man of the year one year, and Rex Chapman was a very solid player.

    Completely different team.

Marbury is a punk, always has been and always will be.

I would be highly surprised to see the "Alien Head" win a NBA Championship.

They were in the 2nd round only 2 years ago during the Lakers' first title. Dice was in Denver, Manning was not a big part of that time, and Chapman was a solid shooter. Marion played the 3 then as well.

Different team? Yes. Significant enough to add 15 extra wins? No.

Yes...but fit or not, none of them wanted to play with him and none of them liked him. Any supposed LEADER who goes on court with "on my own" written on his shoes and "Starbury" tattooed on his leg is a w@nker. No wonder this teamates gave up on him.

Stoudemire is about 1.5 points and 2 rebounds better. He is also a year and a half older and has far more veterans around him. Hardly stats that warrant the comment.

Besides everything else, how immature and thoughtless is Marbury...he throws Stoudemire RIGHT INTO the heart of a controversy and shines the spotlight right on the kid. This is a guy out of high school who, while he will be a super star, has been lucky to hide behind the rookie spotlight Yao has attracted.

Now...evey game he plays will be under the "is he better than KG" spotlight.

Way to protect your rookie Steph:rolleyes:

When you add all that up, it's hillarious. :D

I think Ellie's last year was on the Suns, no? Either way, a lot of players probably know Super Mario got drafted in the 5th round and bounced around Europe. Thet must be what stuck in Stephon's punkass mind.

    That's why he's 4th in assists.

Dude, you can make excuses for Marbury all day. Fact is he's never been to the playoffs since he forced a trade from Minny.

Yeah, he's had some bad luck, but it's been what, 4 years? That's a pretty long time to be 'unlucky'.
