The background events could be true, but so what? It's just speculation and circumstantial. Nothing directly shows that the US is invading Iraq for oil. Why no memo's or leaks out of the Pentagon or White House? Where is the smoking gun? The evidence is so thin, otherwise it would be front page news.
I did not mean to imply that the US's intent in the forthcoming Iraqi war was to "plant the flag" in the Iraqi oil fields. The background read, that I was suggesting, would show you that the US has tied regime change with lifting the embargo.
Our millitary leaders did support a botched coup on Chavez some months ago. Millitary invasions isn't usually our style...
