DAYYYYYYYYYYUUUUMMMMMMMMMMM!!!!!! And the warriors are an eternity away from contention. Its funny how all these freakin fans of other teams come here to talk trash. Jazz about Shandon, Grizz about Francis, Raptor and Bull fans, etc...funnier is still how they dont show up after we accomplished what we set out to do. I mean where are the Jazz fans now that we have Shandon, or Raptor fans about Mobley. Or that sheep fuc%king bull fan. Warrior fans just need to shut up and wait for Jamison and Hughes to be traded for Billy Owens, or some other garbage. ------------------ Fun Police Says: 1. Stupid threads are not FUN! 2. I'd ask Clutch to close down this damn thread, but it's the only one going anywhere nowadays. Boredom til training camp starts, I guess. I would give Golden State the benefit of the doubt. Some organizations dig themselves so deep a hole that they might never crawl out. I'll give the team credit for going in the right direction. I do think that if they could have landed more of a "natural" 3, they might have pulled the trigger on a Jamison deal. We have none to offer. As far as the playoffs? We have a legitimate shot at sliding in, depending on how Mo fits in (i.e., how long til chemistry overrides fumble-fu****g around). Maybe a 7 seed for us. GS will need a two more years or so. Anyway, not that my opinion makes a difference, I just thought we could reach 300 by the weekend.... ------------------
Damn! I would feel pretty bad if I were a Warrior fan. To be a viable playoff team, you need a superstar. No Warrior comes even close to fitting that description (we have Stevie Franchise, who imo is 1 year away). Look at the starting 5- Blaylock- a decent point guard who is slightly over the hill. Hughes- a fabulous athlete with horrible shot selection. Jameson- another great athlete who needs to learn how to shoot the jumpshot. Fortson- this guy is undersized, and he will never be anything more than an average PF, even though he is a very hard worker. Dampier- a good defensive center, but he will never be a top ten center. OOF! I would rather root for the Clippers. ------------------ Nice guys finish lunch. - C. Chase
Warrior, I must disagree with your last statement. The Rocks have something you guys don't have. - A Franchise Player. One of you guys mentioned that the past is the past and your horrible front office that made all of those horrible trades is gone. Well, here, all of the people responsible for our "glory years" are still here. Big Difference! I appreciate a good debate but that is not why you guys have flooded our site so let me be the first to say you can kiss our collective ass! ------------------
You guys are amazing... We came over here to dispute this trade rumor and we were met with resentment because we are Warrior fans and therefore are foolish and stupid because the team has sucked recently. Because I am presenting facts that do not coincide with your false reality I am "talking trash". I see that some of you have finally come to your senses and intelligence is always appreciated - no matter how small it may be. ------------------
warrior, I hate to ask the same question twice... but you're a different person. So I'll let you ignore my "oh so salient" logic also. Where was it exactly that oeilpere said this trade would occur? He's posted in this monster... 3 times. Good luck in finding any places where he said the trade would occur. Again, this thread is interesting b/c it's a snapshot into the workings of the Rockets' business. If they got fanciful and called some team about a player that actually has a future, would it make the call any less true? No. It doesn't matter if the other side "hung up the phone", as you kids like to say. Also, you guys insisting that Jamison is untradeable is hilarious. There are very few untradeable players in the NBA. Antawn Jamison is not one of those players. ------------------ Why don't you guys go down to the gym and pump each other
I guess that would refer to me. I'd love to give references, but much like Opielere can not reveal his sources, nor can I. Wouldn't endear me to them. I don't doubt he has good sources, but I like mine too and they say the exact opposite and have logic on their side: For one, if we're dealing Jamison, why trade Donyell Marshall - who averaged a double double last year? He's better than Walt Williams and would have made sense to keep him. Also, if Jamison has been on the block since the draft, why build your whole marketing campaign around him to get season ticket holders? Why go after Fortson? Why have Jamison recruit him? Why have Jamison in the Bay Area all summer working out with the coaches and proclaiming him a team leader? Why ask why (hey how do you do those smiley faces)? Sorry, just doesn't make sense in any way. Him wanting out doesn't either. No one has wanted to leave GS since PJ was fired. Sorry, it's kind of gotten ugly around here. Boy, wait until Dec. 14. ------------------
Well, I think Hughes is a franchise guy. Hard to have good shot selection when double and triple teamed. That happens when you got CBA guys starting. Larry's FG% actually went up every month in GS. As for Jamison's jump shot, it was non-existant as a rookie. He has a decent mid-range game now in only a year's work on it. He's been working on it with the coaches all summer. He'll never be Glen Rice, but I will bet you no one leaves him open next year. IMO, Dallas, Houston, Seattle and GS will be battling for #8. It should be fun ------------------
Darryn If you believe any of that makes him untouchable, I'm selling shares in the Golden State Bridge. You could get in on the ground floor, well, sea level anyway. Why do all you GS fans get your panties in a wad about Jamison? He just is not that good. To say the Warriors never even talked about trading him is naive. So, GS fans, like Carmen Electra told Dennis Rodman, "Pull up your panties and go home." ------------------ "Never give a sucker an even break. Nor wisen up a chump."

Well, I think Hughes is a franchise guy. I would take Francis over him anyday!!! As for Jamison's jump shot, it was non-existant as a rookie. He has a decent mid-range game now in only a year's work on it. He's been working on it with the coaches all summer. He'll never be Glen Rice, but I will bet you no one leaves him open next year. Soncis told the media that Bin Baker was working out in order to regain his fitness. IMO, Dallas, Houston, Seattle and GS will be battling for #8. It should be fun I hope GS and Clippers do well this season but not at the expense of Rockets. [/B][/QUOTE] ------------------ Hack a Shaq you'll be winning Hack-him you'll be dreaming.
My first post in this thread. I'm not bashing anybody and am only very very slightly biased, but honestly the Rockets are going more places then the Warriors by a long shot. First, the Rockets were obvioulsy a much better team last year. Then, they have made improvements over the offseason not matched by GS. Fortson is asolid pickup, but, as mentioned, they lost Marshall, a solid guy as well. And no, Larry Hughes is not going to lead any tema into the playoffs. You know youre team has no go to guy, when one day its Antwain Jamison who is the center piece and the next day you trade for LArry Hughes and he is all of a sudden the franchise player. I like Hughes a lot. IF (and its a big IF) he can bulk up and learn to play defense he could be a very Michael FInley type player. And FInley is good. But I live in Philadelphia, and Ie seen Hughes play a lot (although in limited minutes on a game by game basis) and he has a long way to go before becoming a franchise player. And finally, you have to think about the organization. The crappy organization that was the Warriors may have been replaced, but still, Rudy T, Carrol Dawson and company represent one of the best basketball organizations in the sport. THe Rockets were a better team last year and will be a better team this year than the Warriors. Personally, I feel that while the Rockets are a team that can be looked at as serioulsy rebuilding, the Warriors still must be looked at with some skepticism, and uncertainty if what they are doing is or will actually work. The Warriors will not be competing for a playoff spot this year, but hopefully, for why shoudl I hate the Warriors, they will start to improve and move from there in future seasons. ------------------ Remember.... You are not really drunk until you must hold on to the grass to keep from falling off the earth.
Rebuilding teams with a better nucleus than Golden State: Houston Dallas Minnesota Sacramento Vancouver Clippers Denver Non-rebuilding teams that GState can't even compete with: Lakers Blazers Jazz Suns Spurs Seattle Wow, the entire Western Conference. And the funny thing is I did this without realizing the entire West would make the list ------------------
I believe last year GS played Marshall and Jamison at the forwards, when both were healthy (once in a blue moon ) Jamison isn't truly a 3, and isn't truly a 4. The other side of the coin, would that the Rockets feel that Langhi is an ultra-superb shooter, yet because we already have Walt, it limits his ability. Jamison would make up for any deficiency rebounding wise for Mo, and Mo is not exclusively a post player. We'd also have the ability to throw out 3 guard lineups for the extra quick SFs. I'm not advocating this deal is perfect for G. State, but there projected SL right now is: Foyle, Fortson, Jamison, Hughes, Blaylock. Foyle has no shot to begin with really. Fortson is the same, maybe a little more effective. Jamison is improving, but he still wouldn't worry most outside 12-15 ft. Hughes is a horrid outside shooter. Blaylock is a pretty poor shooter now and is aging. Sura off the bench is good, but not absolutely stellar (43.7% FG%, 36.7 3P%). No one else is even half way decent. Walt is a proven shooter, and could still help them. Drew's got his wonderful floater . (If I were making a proposed deal similar to this, I'd probably replace Rogers with Bullard and KT, for more shooting). Odds are, the deal won't go down. But it's got more than a snowball's chance in hell. Like say....2 snowballs. ------------------ The Serious Police are watching. Follow the rules or be assimilated. Shandon is underrated. Have I posted in this thread yet? It's gone on for sooooo long I can't remember. Oh yeah, here's number........301!! Were going for 500 by the weekend! ------------------ Francis out top, 9 seconds on the clock, he gives a no look pass to Cuttino Mobley, 4 seconds left, Mobley passes to an open Langhi in the corner with 1 second left! Langhi at the buzzer.......YES!!! How Sweet It Is!!
Just to respond to a few different comments ... Sherlock, the guy who said "My work is done here" wasn't a Warriors fan, it was a Rockets fan referring to getting the thread to 8 pages. JayZ750, you wrote, "You know your team has no go-to guy, when one day it's Antwan Jamison who is the centerpiece and the next day you trade for Larry Hughes and he is all of a sudden the franchise player" . . . you are aware, aren't you, that Jamison was injured before the Hughes deal, and that's why you didn't hear about him after Hughes arrived? I guess maybe not. NewGuy, I'd be mildly interested in your criteria for a "better nucleus." All of the teams in the "rebuilding" part of your list share the same fatal flaw: Poor interior defense. Until they fix it, none of them will ever get past the first round. In Dampier, however, the Warriors have a center who makes them a good defensive team whenever he has played (I've posted the stats before in this forum), and last year was the only season in his career when he missed any significant number of games due to injury. If he remains reasonably healthy, he (in combination with the scoring of Hughes/Jamison) gives the Warriors a brighter long-term future than any of the "donut teams" on your list. NIKEstrad, you're right that the one flaw in the current GS core is long-range shooting. But it's easier for young players to improve their outside shooting than it is for a team to acquire a good defensive center. And Dampier, not Foyle, is the projected starting center. Acquiring Williams for better outside shooting might make sense if the Warriors were a playoff team making a go-for-broke run for a title this year. But obviously they're not, and even then it wouldn't make sense to give up their most important defensive player (Dampier) and their only reliable inside scorer (Jamison) to get him. ------------------
I didnt just start following basketball yesterday. Everybody knows Jamison was injured before the Hughes deal. My point remains, neither Jamison nor Hughes are, and most likely will never become that one player most teams need to win a championship. Every winning team that I can think of has had at least 1 of those players... Shaq, Duncan, Jordan, Olajuwon, Thomas, Magic, Bird, the list goes on At this point in thier careers neither Jamison nor Hughes look to be that player. Steve Francis, on the other hand, ala a VInce Carter or a Kobe Bryant (who I think is that kind of clutch player also) does seem to have that special air about him. ------------------ Remember.... You are not really drunk until you must hold on to the grass to keep from falling off the earth.
