Let me explain...I have lost the same 40-45 lbs....something like 11 times....at my highest I am close to 335..at my lowest I approach 290.

I know all the "Wah, you are driving my health-care costs up stuff"....honestly I have always paid cash for my health care...but I have never been seriously, seriously ill.

I know that I can lose weight...but it has to be the #1 or #2 priority in my life. I do not function well enough to allow weightloss to be a #1 or #2 priority for me and still be a functional member of society.

    Thoughts?

Scum. Of the highest degree! Just kidding, man! Like others said, as long as you're happy, that's all that matters. Losing weight can be HARD. Just be happy, if it were easy, EVERYONE would do it!

No of course it doesn't make you a bad person.

Though I'd be curious to to know what your #1 #2 priorities are right now.

If one of them is family/kids than you might want to attack this sometime there are no 300lb people in a nursing home.

The difference b/w being healthy and unhealthy might be another 25+ years on this earth to see your kids and than their kids grow up.

This is America. If it makes you happy and you aren't screwing with anyone else then do it.

    Try eating less.

You know people say they cant lose weight, then continue to stuff their faces with pie, cake, two big macs, 4 orders of large fries.

I am 6'1" 165 lbs. I eat fast food once a day, and for dinner Ill go eat out. When I do eat out I eat a 6oz steak and a baked potato, and I will feel full.

You dont need to eat 19 orders of chicken fingers to be full. You will be surprised how little it takes to feel full.

As a side note, if you ever decide to shed a few lbs, try drinking a full 8 oz glass of water before meals. My dad who is currently 220 right now, does that before every meal. Do that, and order a smaller portion, you will be surprised how fast the pounds dissapear.

You also don't want heart disease, diabetes and other illnesses related to obesity. Figure out what you want or in this case don't want more.

    how tall are you?

taking care of people that are obese in healthcare is a pain in the ass.

let's use our imagination here. say you're working in customer service. most days, you have nice people that come to you with problems, there's a delay here or there but things get fixed and everyone is happy. but every so often, there's a raging b**** that comes in screaming about problems she caused, demanding you fix the problem, and speaks with an air of self-righteousness (because you know, cash rules all).

the nice ones are the people that take care of themselves, for the most part.

    the b**** is you.

Can you please further explain what you mean by this?

Here's my thoughts: I don't actually care what you do but I've seen diabetes ruin people's lives. So, if you continue going the way you're going, you may not get diabetes but you probably will suffer and die slowly and painfully. If you don't want to lose weight, don't do anything extra besides try and eat a tiny bit healthier. It'll at least make you feel better slightly.

I was close to 138kg but stripped down to 96kg in 6 months...then down to 86kg when a friend challenged me to 'get back in the ring' (MMA) at age 35.

I'm back up to 103-105kg and feel disgusted in myself, but that is just me. To each their own I guess.

    In case anyone is interested...
Yes I won, but the big bruises took a lot longer to heal on my old body.

If it were that easy. What next? Telling depressed people to just get over it and be happy? Some people lack the will power to do what it takes, and to some extent, everyone does.

But anyways, if someone is happy being overweight and they pay cash for their medical expenses and purchase two plane tickets, then it is completely their own business.

Buy a treadmill or go jogging outside once a day. If you want to continue eating the way you do, that's fine, but I don't see why you can't get a little extra burn. 20 minutes a day, but try not to eat 25 minutes before jogging.

If you can't jog, then speed walk until you can start jogging.
