Stoudemire will give him a good run especially if Stoudmemire gets more shots. I see Yao only averaging 12 shots per game the rest of the year (especially with a rejuvenated and more confident Cat ...)

I like how everything some how gets turn around into a bash someone. It doesn't seem to matter what the thread is about. This week is Cat, who will it be next week.

Uh, where was the bashing? He said Stoudemire will give him a run because he may get more shots. Do you not see the logic in that statement?

I love Yao to death, but you have to include the popularity factor into the reason he wins these polls by such margins. He's simply one of the top 5 most popular players in the NBA right now

    SHAQ
    KOBE
    MJ
    AI
    YAO

    Wale.

The most popular players right now are...

    KOBE BRYANT
    Tracy McGrady
    Allen Iverson
    Steve Francis
    Shaq
    Yao Ming

MICHAEL JORDAN IS THE MOST WELL-KNOWN BASKETBALL PLAYER AROUND THE WORLD. HE WILL NEVER LOSE HIS FAME UNLESS HE JUST STUNK.

I think so, too, but Stoudemire went off for *38* points last night. This could get interesting.

The last part of the comment. I took to be a cheap shot at Cat.
If that is not the way the poster ment it to be, well then I'm the one that comes off like a dummy.

And yes I do understand the logic in that Stoudemire may get more shots but I don't understand the logic in the shot at cat.

    cas :

I battled with adding TMac instead of AI, but usually on lists like this someone is always inevitabley left out and I chose TMac.

I could easily have added Paul Pierce also....since he has the highest selling Jersey of all NBA players, but hey I guess you could come up with 10 diff. lists of the NBA's 5 most popular players.

    SLA :

I said top 5, not sure francis makes the list, but its arguable

I based my list of SEVEN from the All Star voting.

    Steve is right behind Kobe.
Michael may not make it! :( But he will be voted in by the coaches. :)

We Rockets must be careful cuz the Dallas Mavericks have called out to their city to vote for their Big Three.

At this point, Stoudemire seems to be Yao's only competition for the award at the end of the season. Remeber, the ROY is not voted by fans. So popularity is not that much of a factor. Team success could affect the outcome. The Suns are doing better now. It will be interesting to see how it develops through the year.

Well Yao has been getting much more attention by everybody. All of the coaches are studying Yao and finding ways to stop him. They are his main focus. I don't think Amare's been getting as much attention as Yao by the opposing teams. Teams have like strategies against Yao. Pretty soon, if Amare continues to do this good, teams will find ways to stop him.

He is Yao's only competition currently. Drew Gooden may erupt...or Dajuan Wagner may go crazy.

I thought ROY was decided by members of the media, just like MVP voting?

I don't think so. I am not sure...but if it was media, Yao would win then.

Don't count Wagner out. His team might lose 60games this year and he will have the green light to shoot. If Francis played there his rookie year he would average 30pts a game.
