What's the more honorable way to acquire stars?

  1. Recruit them through free agency, form super team

BTW, it's getting hilarious how every time the Heat enter a playoff series, you hear "There is no way they are going to beat ______ in a 7 game series."

Last year against Boston this was said and Miami went 4-1, then went to Vegas and got drunk

Lost game 1 to Chicago in blowout fashion due to hangover it was said again, it was said Chicago would sweep them. Miami won 4-1.

Then Dallas, well you guys were right on this prediction! Props! Good call guys!

This year against Pacers when they went up 2-1 the Pacers became the model team and the Heat were done. Whoops 4-2 Miami.

The year against boston, whoops Miami won 4-3.

Now it's the same broken record "no way they are beating OKC, gonna get swept, etc.."

You guys are really in the red on your Miami Heat playoff series predictions. You got 1 right so far, lol.

Honor is that thing people remember of battles that are long gone that weren't glorious or amazing, but were just armies of men dying in piles of their own faeces.

    THIS. LMAO!

It's official. This franchise has become the "we tried" & moral victory (excuses) capital of the basketball world. We're now bashing Presti & CO. for having a rebuilding plan and executing it. We're bashing Riley & CO. for being able to recruit stars. All of this nonsense is just a lame attempt to defend the crap job our management is doing at rebuilding.

Honorable? Who gives a damn? Just get a plan, get players, and win. PERIOD.

And our Rockets are in the club dancing with PaulFTSK....

I wouldn't be sad if Dwight, Deron, Eric Gordon & Josh smith decided to team up in Houston, would you?

players as ghosts of themselves trying for that one last chance isnt quite the same, it's why boston was always viewed as different as miami.

There not even being ufa status had a lot to do with it, because if for example Clyde had been able to come home after 7 years (so 90 onwards) like he wanted to, there'd be one or two more banners on the roof of the toyota center.

I think winning is honorable, I don't care how your team is assembled.
The only bad way to put a team together is to have stern do it for you ala the league manufactured clippers.

Players from junior high, high school, up to college all roam around choosing different schools and forming superteams, deciding their own destinies. Its probably a similar frame of mind they have in professional basketball now.

Yes its more honorable to build from draft, farm and trades than it is buying talent. But if a city is a desirable destination and a player accepts much less pay than he's worth, there's little deterrent from that. Other than having NFL like franchise tag rights on the player.

    nobody cares about moral victories.

you either win championships or you don't.

that's the only thing that matters.

Completely arbitrary distinction - Clyde had 1 year left on his deal, as did Barkley, and btw Pippin was a UFA who came over in an S & T (as did Bosh and LeBron, technically). Those guys were only a few years past Barcelona and were still NBA all-stars and top 10-20 players.

agreed. and they all joined when they were in their 30s. if there is an honorable time to join the g*ngbang it's after 10+ years in the league not when you haven't even entered your primes.
to the original question, it wasn't so much tanking as seattle owner had to cut $$$ to sell the team right? Kinda like uncle D.

*I did get a barkley jersey for christmas from the rockets shop at the then lame memorial city mall (I miss the batting cages there).

not really. we all know that the b****in divas are fabulous and uber talented. You can have a poll miami v bobcats and people, myself included, would choose the bobcats.

fine you got me, Miami will sweep okc. it will be such a butt kicking by miami that they will just cancel the series after game 3.

The most honorable way involves the courage of tanking, the wisdom of drafting, the patience of growing and the mutual loyalty between fans, team and players.

    tanking is just beautiful.
