Any bowlers out there ? I went for the first time at 43yrs old last night. It was pretty cool good for a few laughs. I kept getting the are you sure you haven't done this before. It wasn't that I was good, but I didn't totally embarass myself so that was a plus.
That's amazing. Did you grow up in the US? I don't think I've ever met anyone that said they'd never bowled before. At least that grew up in the US.
I only first started bowling for the first time last year. I broke 100. I think it was like 110 or 120.
Have had my own ball since college and recently just got my first pair of shoes. I love to bowl but haven't gone too much in the last several years. I'm ok ...average 140-150. Just can't take it to the next level cause I don't curve the ball. AMF has a special right now with unlimited 1hr bowling and shoes for 12.95 I think. Pretty sweet.
Wow...barring, as dsnow23 mentioned, growing up in a place where bowling isn't commonplace, I'm surprised to hear that you went 43 years without bowling even once. There was a time when I owned my own ball and shoes and was a reasonably decent player. I wasn't going to start entering competitive tournaments or anything, but I had learned how to repeat my "delivery" if you will and get a consistently solid score. Those days have since passed.
I like bowling, but I havent played in a few years, I want to go again. Im an average player, between 90-110.
The avg bowler is probably 130-150; I bowl in the 180 and that's not good for squat in the leagues or tournaments I do. Some serious talent in the Houston area. Some people should consider going PBA. Join a league and you'll improve with every game.

Lucky Strikes downtown has a lunch and bowl thing where you can bowl a game and get lunch and a drink for about $14 with tip on weekdays. We started doing that every week about six months ago...I've gone from averaging 100 to averaging around 130. It's fun, but there's no future in it - the lanes are so inconsistent that you can only learn to throw a straight ball there (Unless you have the patience of Job). My boss carries an average of 200 in league bowling can only manage an average of 140 in Lucky Strike conditions. They even tell you not to bring your own ball because their ball return mechanisms tear the balls up.
I love bowling! I average about 150, which isnt GREAT but its not too shabby. Anyone want to meet up and bowl in the clear lake area?
I've been told I'm pretty good. Got a few things as awards in the last couple of years. Spoiler It's hard to see, but that is two 300 rings and two 800 rings Im up whenever someone wants to put together a meet at a center on my side of town(east side) Alpha Lanes is a pretty nice center near Galveston 3 and Bay Area Blvd.
