Perhaps there is a bigger picture than the system on the court. Management that ensures stability in your coaching staff. Players are brought in that the coach is comfortable with.

If players are like any other employees, they like stability. Do your job well and you keep it. Bosses don't change, systems don't change, fellow employees are not a bunch of head cases.

They sure seem to be a well run organization.

Lol. Are you saying that it's Phil Jackson that created MJ and Kobe? That he made those players who there are? What a joke. Yes coaching helps but I'll give the credit to 3 or the best players of all time.

If that is the conclusion you arrive to based upon my comment we have nothing further to discuss. Have a nice day.

Quite true and what sets the Spurs apart from teams like the Rockets is that the Spurs put in place a strategy to get those players and the organization to execute that strategy. Combine that with coaching that utilizes those players and you have what you see now in the Spurs.

Yes, they executed the strategy of winning the lotto, even without having the worst record. It was a genius plan they put in place, executed flawlessly by their organization.

Luck plays a role everywhere...... within every organization.
But Spurs are one of the most methodical teams...... in terms of Front Office and Coaching

Old, run down clinic. Time to scrap it and rebuild.

Couldn't agree more. It's nice to see them lose this past game because i hate when people compare duncan to olajuwon and another championship would only fuel the fire. With that said the spurs front office and coaching staff has been brilliant or as u like to call it methodical

Just stop. You want to keep giving reach arounds to the Spurs you can do it at Spurstalk. They'd appreciate it right now.

Not really, but the workers are getting a little old and tired. Flopping around and acting all lackadaisical.

I figured this thread would be bumped giving SAS recent slump. Still despite the fact that they have collapsed.....they are within 6 wins of another NBA title.

While our team has been doing nothing but picking up worthless #14 round picks over recent years. Also......OKC has flown by us.

SAS is still light years ahead of us and tbh.....they will probably retool and still be better than us while we languish in mediocrity.

Harsh but lets face the facts here.

okc has flown by us because of their surplus us high first round draft picks... if the rockets were smart enough, they would have been doing much better this season

Don't you dare question Morey! Sure, Durant may be a super star, but he's not an asset. Plus, who cares about winning Championships. The real challenge is to have a perfectly balanced roster, twelve deep, all in their prime, all under thirty, and all one notch above average. Now that takes vision! Just like playing Sim City!

Yeah ok'd doesn't hav a great system apparently. But how are they winning? Hmmm

Point is it takes a great system, great talent, and a bit of luck. You can't just say...let's just do what the spurs did. Every situation is unique.

But one situation that has never led to a ring is...let's just get a group of very good player but not superstars and make them work Ina good system. Look at the jazz teams of the last 10 years.

Very good players.m statistical competent. Amazing coach and system, mediocre results.

All the teams left are super talented AND have either great systems or the MVP. They are all built around number big time lottery picks....Duncan Durant garnet James.
