Per John Mclain. He was a former Cowboy. Don't know much else about the guy. Is he good enough to be CB 2 or will he just provide veteran depth?
I think it's a good move if only to help our young corners with Wade's system. And he could make the team if one of the kids isn't good enough.
Another Wade Cowboys re-tread. As a CB Ball is definitely on par or only marginally worse than Kareem. As a Safety I guess he's a decent 2nd string FS. Definitely should not be getting 1st string reps and doubt that will even be an issue on this team. Some players should thank the stars for Wade because if they never played for him they'd be out of the league by now. (I know there's a number of coaches that enjoy the familiarity with/and bringing in old players they've coached but Wade's guys are definitely lucky to have had him as a coach before).
As a Cowboys fan, my worst memories of Ball was when he was playing Safety. He was an absolutely terrible Safety...always out of position and never in position to make the plays. I can only remember one time when Ball actually made a decent play in that position. He was absolutely terrible at reading the quarterback. A lot of that is on the Cowboys coaches imo for trying to make Ball a Safety when clearly he wasn't. It was a total mess and we ended up giving up the most receiving yards ever and I think most points ever in a season. lol. He was a better cornerback but, given how many sorry corners the Cowboys had on the roster, he was only average and still under Mike Jenkins, Orlando Scandrick, and Terrance Newman on the corners totem pole. I personally expected a little more from Ball. I can't say he ever really turned the corner as a Cowboy. Maybe the Safety change the Cowboys tried set him back some? There is definite room for improvement from Ball. He is still early enough in his career to get better. If we've already seen the best we will see from Ball, then he is a disappointment overall imo. Good luck with him. Obviously, Cowboys didn't want him after they drafted a top corner and signed another. He and Newman were out. It's no surprise Newman ended up in Cincy and it's really no surprise Ball ended up in Houston.
