word on the street is that Doc Rivers let go of Grant due to doc's deceptive dealings with his superstar Tracy. It supposedly had little to due with Grant's ability to play. While often injured, Horace still has the ablility to come in, help on the boards, score a bit and teach Yao some post tricks. The biggest upside could be the fact that we would lose no one to this acquistion. The biggest downside would be throwing another log into the jam at the 4 what is your opinion
i dont want grandpa grant. he cant hang with the western conference p.f.'s. if he was all that wouldnt la lakers have snatched (ha ha...snatch) him up right when he was cut. he knows the triangle inside/out and the lakers need a pf in the worst way. if they wanted him they would have taken him already. but they didnt, cause he aint going to help anyone. he could serve as a back-up, but he is no better than what weve already got. i would not want to trade or loose anyone that weve got for him. on the other hand, were looking pretty damn weak at the 4 and grant will come cheap. it couldnt hurt anything but the rockets pockets and eddies development. how about dennis rodman? is he available? or lets bring back amigo! im sure he is available!
lets trade yao ming for kenny thomas! that will solve all our p.f. problems. k.t. is a solid defender and can create his own shot. we could really use a guy like him.
Hmm... Horace Grant was released because he was undermining the coach's authority. Yep, that's the player we need, not to mention he's 80 years old.
I guess my opinion depends on our other options. If getting Ho Grant ruins our chances of getting a legitimate PF like Brian Grant, then I vote no. But if its either Ho Grant or our current group of knuckle-head 4s, then I vote yes. Grant is still a much better post defender than anyone we have at the 4 and he knows what it takes to win. I remember watching him when he was on the Lakers when they won their first championship and the guy is tough. He does all the little things that helps teams win. Granted, at this juncture in his career, he is going to be shutting any one out but I am relatively confident that guys like Malone and Gasol wont light him up the same way they did with Eddie.
