    Serious question.

If you had to start from scratch, whom would you build around: Kevin Durant or LeBron James?

Durant. He's younger and not that far off from LeBron.
If LeBron reverted to 23 years old? Then I'd easily take LeBron.

LBJ.. though I really hate him, he will dominate the NBA in the next 10 years

Durant probably. Safe to say lebron is the most effective player on the court. But if you are thinking about culture of a team to build around, then you have to go with Durant. Think of guys like Duncan, there are power forwards that are as statistically efficient and effective as him, but because of his personality, the way he is focused, unselfish, and his work ethic and willingness to listen to the coach...his team has a certain culture.
Kobe, not the most efficient guy, heck his stats might be compared to iverson, both are ball hog chuckers, but because of his personality and obssession to winning and working hard he sets a certain culture and that is why these two guys who have similar numbers have such differences in how long they were able to compete and how their teams play.

Lebron has more well rounded stats, but durant is not too far behind. Durant sets a winning and unselfish culture from his work ethic to his demeanor. He has shown maturity from a young age, is younger than lebron , and already winning and improving in both the fundamentals, defense at a faster rate. So that is why i would go with durant to build around even though lebron is the most effective/well rounded player in the game today, its a mentality that they put in.

LeBron, he is by far the more dominant player.

I'd take KD.. he isn't that far off from LeBron, and he is loyal and would want to stay to see the job get completed.. Lebron would bail at some point.

I still don't get why Clutchfans posters HATE LeBron so much... you'd think he left you guys planted at the alter.

I honestly like both players games, KD has the slight advantage in outside shooting, but Bron has brute strength and can usually get to the rim at will.

I would probably take KD at this point although, considering he's only 24 and has already developed a clutch mentality, he's going to help the Thunder have much more playoff success than just the past two seasons based on that quality alone.

If you have a system in place, you take Durant. If you want to build a system around a player, you take LeBron.

Durant because no matter how good lebron is he will end up taking his talents to Miami.

Interesting question. I'd rather build my team around the most dominant big man and pair him up with a dominant point guard.

Anyone who doesn't pick Bron is nuts. World class talent in every aspect of the game. Perfect athlete, great on offense, one of the best defensive players in the world, can take over the game on both sides. One of the best playmakers, too. KD is more like the missing piece if you got a great team and need that one star to carry them by scoring in loads. Bron is the whole package and will lead your guys in every aspect.

Being able to do it all can be a weakness as much as it is a strength. It can ruin team synergy.

Depending on the team.... Bron like Durant can't do it alone.

If they were the same age, Lebron and it's not even close. Too many longhorn homers here.

The logical answer would definitely be Lebron. He has more impact on every aspect of a team's success than any other player in the league. But he is also hard to build around because he dominates the ball in order to make those impacts.

I can have a dominant big man down low for Durant and it won't affect his game much because he can hit open shots and a great slasher. But having a big man down low clogs the lane for Lebron who likes to bull his way into the lane and dish out.

I'm also not sure how well Lebron can play with a good passing PG that needs the ball in his hands in order to be effective. Lebron makes so many plays by himself that my PG might become underutilized.

You can also go with the surround Lebron with Defensive players and lots and lots of shooters route, but that obviously didn't work because it was what Cleveland did and they couldn't do it against good defensive teams that zoned in on Lebron.

The question really isn't who is the better player...obvously Lebron is. Taking everything into account, their talent, their personality, coachability, maturity, their "diva-ness".

KD. It's really not that close for me. He already knows how to play off the ball and pick his spots the way it took jordan a decade to figure out. His defense has been remarkable, he can guard anyone on the floor. Fantasy wise it's LeBron, but KD actually makes his teammates better with passes that lead to passes. His handling of Russell Westbrook has changed that guy into a superstar. Harden is better as well because of KD's mentality. LeBron had to bail because he couldn't cultivate the talent around him. And, oh yeah, KD's actually there with the game on the line. The Heat haven't run into any team even close to what the Thunder have been dealing with so far. The Celtics would've gotten bounced in the first round in the west.
