I have an Asus UL series laptop I purchased two years ago. So far it's been great haven't had any real problems. However, today it's been toggling between power and battery mode. I suspect something is wrong with the jack. It doesn't appear to be charging correctly. It would flicker between power and battery mode then my computer screen will go black and shut off. The power supply cord's light is on so I don't think there's something wrong with the power cord. Is this worth fixing? Seems like a minor problem but if its too expensive I might be better off getting a new one. Thanks..

The power cord light will turn on just when its plugged in probably.

The issue is likely the power jack, where one of the internal wires got disconnected due to general jostling. This happened to me once, and it is fixable if you can find a replacement jack. A laptop repair person might be able to fix it for a 100 bucks or so. You can try to do it yourself, which is tractable, but you have to be very careful.

Happened to my ASUS after a recent update. Open the battery options page: control panel>hardware and sound>power options. Or open it up by clicking the battery icon. Then adjust the settings.
