I don't know if Texas has BevMo's, but checkout the website (BevMo.com) and see if you can find a store similar and just look around and talk to people there. Get in the habit of trying out new beers all the time. To taste, not get drunk.

Do you have an iPhone? Download the app BrewGene or something similar... Try a bunch of different beers from suggestions then rate it on the app. Rate enough beers and they'll suggest some and go from there. Oh, and if you prefer Bud Light/Miller Light/Coors Light to other beers, just stop.

    Some random thoughts:
My 2 fav. beers right now are New Belgium's Shift and Moose Drool. Check those out.
Guinness is my all time fav. beer.
I've been going to this German pub lately, I'm really enjoying those beers, very filling and flavorful, the best two to me are Aventinus and Spaten Optimator.

Here are my 5-4 star ratings on Brew Gene: Guinness, Sam Adams Imperial White, Moose Drool, Fat Tire

    Hope that helped.

BlueMoon is made by MillerCoors brewing. If you prefer trying some alternatives to BlueMoon.

This is great advice. I'm not big on fruit-flavored beer but my wife loves it. She also likes belgians and hefes more than I do, because I'm picky about a beer having too many fruity esters. I love ambers and browns, and can drink them much more regularly than the big IPAs and Stouts, because I prefer the maltier beers to the bitterer beers. However, those hoppy bitter beers can really get you out of a beer slump when you're sick of what you've been drinking.

You just have to find and develop your palate, just like any acquired taste. Find something you like and experiment from there. Don't forget that if you like a certain style in ale (primarily US or English beer), there usually is a lager counterpart from somewhere else that you may also like. I love amber and brown ales in both American and English styles, but I also like dark import lagers from Mexico and Germany and the American beers modeled after them. Don't go drinking the most specialized (and expensive) beers until you know what you like, because those beers are usually targeted at people whose palates are evolved from drinking lots of different beer.

Hey guys, I think Dr. Pepper is gross. Can anyone recommend a gateway soda so I can start drinking Dr. Pepper with my friends?

Start with light diet like Tab. Then try a clear citrus like Sprite or 7up. Once you're good there you'll be ready for the darker colas like Coke and Pepsi maybe even Mr. Pibb.

Don't worry, you'll be knocking the cola down with your pals in no time.

Should've watched ESPN Deportes instead. You would have only had to down like four gulps, and just seen 20 minutes of wide left, wide left, goalie save, wide left.

    F---in' soccer.

Should have watched the Dynamo vs. Galaxy game and gulp every time Beckham b*tched or cried about not getting a call his way. You'd have been drunk by half time.

OR.. You may just have a natural taste for IPA's

IPA's are Indian Pale Ales, typically the type of beer that contains the most alcohol and extremely thick and bitter but a imo it's a different bitter that already tastes like candy..

I HATE light beers like bud, wise, coors (lite) and despise lone star, natty, keystone, etc. Have always hated it since I've started drinking. Hated it to the point I almost fell as an alcoholic because the only way I could stomach thru a drink to get drunk would be thru hard liquor...

Then by the good graces of god I was introduced to St. Arnold's IPA and I was in beer heaven. 6-packs cost a little more ($8-10) but well worth it.

My favorites are Sierra Nevada ipa.. Real Ale IPA.. and the big dick IPA of them all...
